Port of Oshawa moving the essential goods for a growing Durham Region


Located in Durham Region, the Port of Oshawa offers a unique combination of industrial space and multimodal transportation assets. As the eastern bookend in the port network operated by the Hamilton Oshawa Port Authority (HOPA), the Port of Oshawa handles more than half a million tonnes of cargo, valued at more than $400 million each year.

HOPA has also recently welcomed funding from the Federal Government to support the Port of Oshawa expansion plan. The $14 million contribution, to be drawn from the National Trade Corridors Fund, was announced by Transport Minister Omar Alghabra recently.

Feast On the Farm Durham Region

hosted at Slabtown Cider Co.


Join the Feast On network of food service operators and producers for Feast On the Farm taking place September 18 and 19 at Slabtown Cider Co. in Uxbridge. Feast On the Farm is a two-day, zero-waste event series produced by the Culinary Tourism Alliance in collaboration with Durham Tourism.


Each event consists of one consumer day followed by an industry day; and showcases the best of Ontario destinations, local food and beverages, and top chef talent.


Consumer Day: Sunday, September 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Feast On the Farm’s consumer day provides an interactive and immersive experience where consumers can connect with chefs and producers to celebrate the taste of the host destination.


Industry Day: Monday, September 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Industry day offers a combination of discussions and demonstrations with industry experts, hands-on skill building workshops and networking for the foodservice industry.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) paving the way for world leading Small Modular Reactor (SMR) at Darlington


Foundational work is continuing at OPG’s Darlington Nuclear site to help prepare for the deployment of a grid-scale, 300-megawatt SMR by the end of the decade. In March, OPG announced it will partner with E.S. Fox Ltd. to begin site preparation activities at the Darlington site later this year. This work will include non-nuclear infrastructure activities, such as clearing a portion of the new nuclear site to build roads and utilities.

The stressful environment of a Ukrainian bomb shelter inspired an Oshawa university’s Ukrainian intern to program an application to alleviate stress and anxiety and support people with PTSD.
