Alumni Spotlight

George P. Shultz '38  served as the 60th U.S. secretary of state from 1982 to 1989, in the Reagan administration. Previously, he had served as director of the Office of Management and Budget, as secretary of the treasury, and as secretary of labor. Before his public service to the nation, he taught economics at M.I.T. and the University of Chicago and served as dean of the University of Chicago School of Business. He was also president of Bechtel and is now a distinguished fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. A prolific author, Mr. Shultz's most recent book is Learning from Experience (2016).

We work hard to make applying to Loomis as easy as possible. For step by step instructions, please refer to the Apply page on our website. Dean of Enrollment Lynn Petrillo and Senior Associate Director of Admission Liz Stewart have also recorded a podcast to walk you through the process. Check it out here. Please note that Loomis offers two online applications: Gateway to Prep Schools and SAO (SSAT) applications. It is fine to use either application although we do encourage international applicants to use the Gateway option if possible. The deadline for the admission application is January 15, 2018.

George P. Shultz '38 Returns to the Island

Former U.S. secretary of state George P. Shultz '38 paid a return visit to the Island for a question-and-answer session with Head of School Sheila Culbert in front of an all-school audience on October 27.

Students Present Five Epic Performances of Shakespeare's 'Pericles'

Audiences delighted in the student production of Pericles: Prince of Tyre, William Shakespeare's tale of love and virtue overcoming treachery and deceit, in the Norris Ely Orchard Theater during the play's five-performance run October 25-28.

Football Beats Worcester on Senior Night 
 
The Pelicans took to the field to play their last home game of the season against Worcester Academy on Saturday, October 28, and won 17-7 in front of a large crowd under the lights.

Volleyball Beats Greenwich Academy 
 
The varsity volleyball squad hosted Class A foe Greenwich Academy on Wednesday, October 25, in a battle of two hard working and talented teams, and the Pelicans came out on top 3-1.
