Explore Your World at the Mayland Earth to Sky Park

BROUGHT TO YOU BY MAYLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

The world beneath our feet and over our heads is a place of wonder. Come explore the natural world we live in at the Mayland Earth to Sky Park, located halfway between Burnsville and Spruce Pine. Home of the Bare Dark Sky Observatory and Glenn & Carol Arthur Planetarium, and soon to be Children’s Discovery Center, the International Dark Sky certified park offers an educational experience for all ages. Peer through the largest public telescope in North Carolina, learn about Earth’s ecosystems, enjoy a picnic, and get up close and personal with Matt Willey’s newest “Good of the Hive” honeybee mural.

About the Earth to Sky Park

The Mayland Earth to Sky Park, located outside of Burnsville, North Carolina, is certified by the International Dark Sky Association as a Dark Sky Park. The mission of the park is to educate visitors about the natural world around them, from the earth to the sky.
