Daryl Rivera, the passionate owner of Authentic Latin American soul food, LLC, is bringing the flavors of his heritage to the community with his fresh, made-from-scratch dishes. Drawing from recipes passed down through generations and 30 years of kitchen experience, Daryl creates flavorful, succulent meals that feel like family dinners. His mission is not only to bring delicious food to the community but to also bond with his customers and provide great opportunities to help others.
A proud graduate of the Community Investment Collaborative (CIC) workshop, Daryl recently secured a microloan to purchase a food trailer and expand his business. With support from his advisor, Dan Fellows, and the Central Virginia Small Business Development Center (SBDC), he has taken a major step forward in growing Authentic Latin American Soul Food.
Authentic Latin American soul food will be located in Fork Union, VA, operating five days a week. As Daryl’s business continues to grow, he remains dedicated to sharing his love of cooking with the community, embodying the spirit of determination and authenticity. Upcoming Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Ban for Food Establishments
Starting in 2025, Virginia’s food establishments will be required to phase out the use of expanded polystyrene (EPS) containers. The ban, originally delayed until 2028, has been moved forward by the 2024 General Assembly. This initiative will be implemented in two phases, with large chains affected first, followed by all other establishments by 2026.

Funding Announced by USDA for Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP)
The USDA has announced funding provided by the Inflation Reduction Act for the Agricultural Conservation Easement Program (ACEP) for fiscal year 2025. NRCS accepts applications year-round, but to be considered for the next funding cycles, apply by Oct. 4, 2024, or Dec. 20, 2024. Landowners and producers can apply for Agricultural Land Easements (ACEP-ALE) or Wetland Reserve Easements (ACEP-WRE) through their local NRCS office.
