State of ALICE in Idaho 2025

Curious about what financial hardship looks like in Idaho?

The State of ALICE: 2025 Update on Financial Hardship offers an in-depth look at households that can’t afford the basics and the challenges that are often faced.

The latest data reveals that more than 2 in 5 U.S. households—spanning every state and across all demographics—are living below the ALICE Threshold.

These include households in poverty and households that are ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), with income above the Federal Poverty Level but not enough to make ends meet.

2025 United Way of Southeastern Idaho Awards Lunch

Thank you to everyone who attended our 2025 United Way Awards Lunch!

This annual gathering is a moment to reconnect with our mission—serving ALICE families and individuals throughout Southeastern Idaho—and to celebrate the dedicated partners and supporters who make this work possible.

Together, we created a powerful impact this year: 34,000 Southeastern Idahoans served, 27 funded nonprofit partners supported, and $379,196 invested in local nonprofits during the 2024–2025 campaign year.

We are deeply grateful to our corporate and individual donors who fuel these efforts. Your generosity is a testament to the belief that we are truly Stronger Together.

A heartfelt thank you to our presenting sponsor, Portneuf Health Trust. Their generous support allowed 45 nonprofit staff and colleagues to attend the event at no cost, honoring their tireless work in serving our communities.

We were proud to recognize the Fabulous 15, local companies that contributed more than $15,000 to United Way of Southeastern Idaho this year:

  • Portneuf Health Trust
  • Battelle Energy Alliance
  • JR Simplot Don Plant
  • Itafos
  • ICCU
  • Health West
  • Farm Bureau
  • Pocatello Firefighters 187 – City of Pocatello
  • Costco

In addition, we presented Special Awards to outstanding individuals and partners whose collaboration and dedication have gone above and beyond in strengthening Southeastern Idaho.

One of the highlights of the event was hearing from Lee Ann Waldron, who shared how United Way supported her during college with a scholarship that helped cover her living expenses. That support allowed her to stay focused on her goals and finish strong. Now a proud supporter herself, she reminded us that telling your story can inspire hope in others who may be walking a similar path.

As a meaningful close to the program, we took a moment to honor Dr. Shane Hunt, our incredible Board President, who is stepping into a new role as President of Cameron University in Oklahoma. His energy, heart, and steadfast belief in our mission have shaped our work in countless ways.

From all of us at United Way of Southeastern Idaho—thank you. Your support, leadership, and belief in community make everything we do possible.

Thank you, Dr. Shane Hunt! Your leadership has left a lasting mark. Once a part of our United Way family—always a part of our United Way family.

2025 Funded Programs

Seeking Solutions That Don't Sacrifice Support

Thousands in Southeastern Idaho rely on programs like SNAP, Medicaid, and tax credits to stay afloat. Proposed federal cuts could put those lifelines at risk.

Hear from our CEO, Shantay Bloxham, on what’s at stake for our community and why finding balanced solutions matters.
