Rainbow Basin

With beautiful views and geological and paleontological features, Rainbow Basin is an Area of Critical Environmental Concern. Meaning that this area requires special management attention to protect its important resources, vulnerable landscapes, and fossil beds. The massive batholith that lies below the basin has helped to form the diverse landscape of colorful hills, canyons, and washes. Within the basin live a variety of desert-adapted wildlife including the desert tortoise. There are 3 main hiking trails in the basin or a driving loop accessible by all vehicles.
