Join us this Saturday in Chinatown to celebrate the holidays! 5,000 toys will be given out to kids by Santa at Columbus Park, in collaboration with his elves from Marine Toys For Tots. The Chinatown Partnership thanks the NYC Parks Department, American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, Sing Tao Daily, Multicultural Radio Broadcasting, UA3, Amazing 66, New Empire, and the NYPD 5th Precinct for making this event possible.
The primary goal of
Marine Toys for Tots
is, through the gift of a new toy, help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America's less fortunate children

Few of us think about what it takes for the average delivery worker to bring those meals to our doorsteps.
For the past two years, immigrant delivery cyclists have been working under constant threat of punishment for their use of
electric bicycles, which they use to keep up with the grueling demand for the convenience of food delivery.
This isn’t the first time the city has excluded delivery workers in their attempts at “innovative” transportation policy.

Much of what’s worth ordering at Green Garden Village is on display as you enter. On the right, there are tanks of live seafood; on the left, a hanging menagerie of barbecue, including glistening ducks, chickens, and whole pigs. For diners who don’t read Chinese, the rest of the dense and imperfectly translated menu can be a little difficult to navigate, but patient, helpful servers are receptive to the universal language of pointing to what other, more confident-seeming people are eating.

Apply for NYCDOT Street Seats (Deadline 12/31/19)
|
Street Seats is a citywide program where partners apply to transform underused streets into vibrant, social public spaces between the months of March through December (the Season). Street Seats are installed in the roadbed along the curb line or on wide sidewalks to create an attractive setting for eating, reading, working, meeting a friend or taking a rest.
The applying partner selects the design and maintains the Street Seat. DOT provides operational elements, such as signage, wheel stop bars, striping on the parking lane, and/or temporary plastic bollards.

Flags contain symbolically loaded colors and imagery, often meant to communicate a shared national identity, history, and values. When people do not feel and experience this unity, how are such symbols used and altered? Alternatively, how are new representations created to find and express belonging? Join us as we explore how to convey our own values, histories, and experiences and share them with others through symbols on flags. Using mixed media families will construct personalized flags to represent themselves.
