Final comment period open for long-range plans

LRTP and SFRP public comment period runs through April 3

MoDOT is hosting a virtual public meeting now through April 3 to gather public feedback on updates to the draft versions of the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and State Freight and Rail Plan (SFRP). These plans will help determine the state's 25-year transportation vision.

Participants may review the draft plans and provide comments to ensure that the goals and objectives are accurate and reflect the needs of citizens and stakeholders. Both plans have been shaped over the last year by extensive outreach and input with stakeholders and the public. These plans serve as roadmaps for the state’s transportation network, addressing the evolving infrastructure needs and setting funding priorities.

Draft documents for both plans are available for public comment as part of the virtual public meeting through 5 p.m. Friday, April 3. Those without internet access are encouraged to call 573-751-6550 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to access information and ask questions during the development process.

The final plans will be presented to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission for review and consideration later in 2026. More information about LRTP and SFRP plan updates can be found on MoDOT's website.

Plan a safe and sober ride; don't rely on luck this St. Patrick's Day

Between March Madness, St. Patrick’s Day, Pi Day and more, there's plenty of reasons to celebrate this month. The Spring Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign runs March 14 through April 20, and the Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety wants to make sure people factor safe and sober rides into their party plans. Law enforcement will be out cracking down on impaired drivers. Remember: if you feel different, you drive different.

MoDOT issues permits for heaviest Superloads on record

On Feb. 12, Barnhart Crane & Rigging Co. hauled a 1.1-million-pound load, the heaviest MoDOT has permitted, from St. Joseph to Turney. On Feb. 23, the company beat that record with a 1.3-million-pound load. The route was coordinated by MoDOT's Oversize/Overweight (OSOW) team to avoid weight-restricted bridges and culverts. The loads required a custom 333-foot-long trailer with 36 axels to evenly distribute the weight. See it in action.

MoDOT advises public to report toll fee scam texts

If you're getting texts posing as MoDOT or the Missouri Department of Revenue threatening legal action if you don't pay for "delinquent toll violations," it's a scam! Do not click any links. Report these texts and then delete them. MoDOT will never solicit customers to pay toll or traffic violation fees; Missouri doesn't have toll roads. If you're unsure, contact MoDOT on social media or the toll-free customer service line at 1-888-ASK-MODOT.
