High-Priority Unfunded Needs draft list available for review

Public meetings scheduled across the state to discuss project funding needs

Missouri’s transportation system is the 7th largest in the nation and includes 33,811 miles of roads and 10,392 bridges and culverts.

That’s why MoDOT is inviting the public to help identify the transportation projects in each area around the state that could be paid for with $1.1 billion in funding set aside for projects that are currently unfunded. The list of high-priority, unfunded projects was created to guide the development of needs into funded projects as state and federal transportation funds become available in the future.

Meetings are scheduled across the state to discuss the draft High-Priority Unfunded Needs list for transportation in each of MoDOT’s seven regions. The draft document and comment forms will be available online through Friday, Aug. 23.

MoDOT staff have worked with metropolitan planning organizations and regional planning commissions throughout the state to develop a list of high-priority unfunded road and bridge needs. The draft list includes $4.4 billion in road and bridge needs in three tiers:

Tier one includes $477 million and includes needs that could be accomplished in the time of the current five-year Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) as federal and state funding levels increase. These needs have good estimates.
Tier two is worth $1.92 billion and includes needs beyond the current STIP timeframe with broader estimates.
Tier three includes $1.96 billion of needs also beyond the current STIP timeframe with broader estimates. In addition, MoDOT staff worked with planning partners to identify $1 billion in multimodal needs.

TSMO implementation at MoDOT helps efficiency

Traveler Information Map now on mobile browsers

Accessing travel information before starting your trip has become easier and more convenient. MoDOT's Traveler Information Map is now accessible through mobile internet browsers. The update allows the map to be displayed on mobile devices without having to download the Traveler Information Map App through the Apple Store or Google Play. Learn more.

KC Scout is now back online following cyberattack

On July 9, the KC Scout website was restored, including live cameras. Full-service restoration efforts are underway, which include the KC Scout mobile app, real-time information cameras on the MoDOT Traveler Information Map, camera stream access for media partners and more. Updates on additional service restoration will be shared with the public when available.

The Missouri Coalition for Roadway Safety (MCRS) is comprised of safety advocates throughout the state who work together to help end traffic fatalities and serious injuries on Missouri roadways.
