MoDOT encourages safe, sober travels for July Fourth weekend

Reduced work zone construction in place June 30th through July 5th

With the busy Fourth of July holiday weekend, MoDOT is encouraging all Missourians to help reach their destination safely by always doing these four simple actions: Buckle up. Phone down. Slow down. Drive sober.

Whether driving through a work zone, sharing the road with motorcyclists or cruising around streets with pedestrians in the area, committing to these safe behaviors will help save lives.

While the actual holiday is during the week this year, many people will be celebrating over the weekend, so it’s important to be aware of your surroundings and plan for increased traffic. There will also be more distractions on the road this weekend as fireworks loudly light up the sky.

Remember, road conditions can change in an instant. Be alert and keep you and your loved ones safe.

For the holiday weekend, work zones with temporary lane closures will not occur from noon on Friday, June 30 until the morning of Wednesday, July 5.

Motorists can find everything they need to plan for their holiday and summer travel with MoDOT's Traveler Information Map. This online tool shares the latest news on work zones, road conditions and traffic incidents. There’s also a mobile version available on the Google Play and Apple app stores.

Highway Patrol will be out in full force this weekend

Missouri’s Speed Enforcement Campaign is an annual push to educate drivers on the dangers of driving over the speed limit. As much as we emphasize the dangers of impaired driving, speed and aggressive driving are listed as a contributing circumstance in fatal crashes more than twice as often. The "need for speed" is deadly, so help us work to address the issue. Learn more.

2024-2028 STIP comment period ends soon

MoDOT, MDC and MPF combat noxious weeds

MoDOT, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the Missouri Prairie Foundation (MPF) joined forces to control invasive, exotic and noxious weeds along state roadways. New Utility Terrain Vehicle spraying operations are out statewide to strategically target specific harmful vegetation while limiting collateral impact to desirable roadside vegetation.
