Honouring Indigenous Peoples:

A Time to Reflect, Listen, and Learn

In our latest article, we invite you to join us in a meaningful moment of reflection, listening, and learning in recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day. It’s an opportunity to deepen our understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and the resilience of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities. By pausing to honour ancestral wisdom, recognize ongoing challenges, and embrace diverse voices, we each play a part in fostering reconciliation and collective growth.

Read on to explore inspiring stories, thoughtful perspectives, and tangible ways to engage and support Indigenous-led initiatives.

Let’s come together—mindfully and respectfully—to listen, learn, and act.

World Elder Abuse Awareness

June 15 marked World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD), a vital time to come together and speak out against the mistreatment of older adults.

This year's theme, "Grow the Conversation… Recognize the Signs, Reduce the Risks", called on Albertans to break the silence, stay alert to signs of abuse, and build a community of support.

Elder abuse affects up to 10% of older adults in Canada and can take many forms, from financial exploitation to emotional or physical harm. The Alberta Elder Abuse Awareness Council (AEAAC) continues its dedicated work to ensure every older adult

in Alberta can age with dignity and safety.

Together, we can foster respect, reduce stigma, and ensure our communities are safe for all ages. Learn how you can be part of the movement; not just in June but every day.

We have immediate availability in one of our homes,

Honouring Fathers in Long-Term Care

This Father’s Day, ExquisiCare proudly celebrated the remarkable fathers in our homes; men whose wisdom, strength, and stories shape generations.

Our team goes beyond the usual to create heartfelt, personalized experiences that make each dad feel truly seen and valued. From special meals to family visits and thoughtful surprises, we honour their legacy with the dignity and joy they deserve.

Every father deserves to feel cherished—and at ExquisiCare, they do.

Walking for a Cause

On May 25, ExquisiCare staff, families, and friends came together for the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s at Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park.

With sunny skies and wonderful company, it was the perfect day to support an important cause.

Nearly $90,000 was raised to fund local programs and services that enhance the lives of those living with dementia and support their families.

We’re proud to have taken part in this meaningful event and grateful to everyone who walked alongside us.

Celebrating Alberta Seniors Week!

During the first full week of June, Albertans celebrate the incredible contributions of seniors across the province—and at ExquisiCare, we joined in the fun!

We hosted lively BBQs and friendly games like bowling, balloon badminton and Scrabble, creating joyful moments and honouring the wisdom, warmth, and legacy of our cherished residents.

It was a week full of laughter, connection, and appreciation for the amazing seniors who enrich our community every day.
