With how technology has become an integral part of our lives, it is important to support seniors with adapting to this change. Although they may be hesitant to embrace technology, it can greatly enhance their quality of life.

Giving thanks and showing our appreciation and gratitude is not limited to just certain days of the year but on Thanksgiving it is nice to come together and celebrate all that we are grateful for.

Scamming is big business in Canada – and scams against the elderly are unfortunately becoming increasingly widespread. It is unfortunate that there are people in the world who prey on others. The best way we can protect ourselves and our elders is by being aware and educated.

At the entrance of each home, you will find a very special book. In this book there is a highlight of our residents, both past and present.

Our elders have given so much to the communities and they deserve to be honoured and commended for their years of hard work.

These books of highlights lets us do just that. As we get to know them a little bit better we also grow to love them more.

We are excited to welcome the newest addition to our Cameron Heights family, Dwayne!

His social and caring personality has brought a ray of sunshine and increased the social chit chat that we always love to see in the home.

Dwayne grew up on a mixed farm with his three brothers. Exemplary work ethic began at a young age for him. Being the oldest, he lead his siblings at an early age, driving his first tractor at only 6 years old! He remembers strict safety rules set by his father so that at the age of 12, he could run the combine independently allowing his father time to rest. This instilled independence and a sense of pride.

In adulthood, Dwayne married and started a fruitful career in Engineering and Design. He graduated from NAIT with honors and attended the University of Alberta in Registered Engineering and Applied use Land Planning. He was certified as a Registered Engineering Technologist in Civil Engineering. Over the years his work ranged from Design, Construction, and Aerial photography, just to name a few.

Dwayne’s accomplishments did not end there. He changed his line of work to attend the RCMP training academy. His tenacity and work ethic brought him to a lead position with the Traffic division.

When asked, Dwayne’s greatest accomplishment in life is his two wonderful sons. Watching them grow and pursue their lifelong passions has brought unmeasurable joy for him. He cherishes each moment with his sons and grandsons deeply. Having the support of love of family is very meaningful for him and his face lights up at the mere mention of his wonderful children and grandchildren.

His helpful nature has lead to deep friendships that have given him a sense of fulfillment.

It is our pleasure to walk this journey alongside Dwayne and we look forward to making many new memories!
