Depression in Early Life May Up Dementia Risk Later
Depression in young adults may increase their risk of developing dementia, results of a new study suggest. Researchers found that in a group of 6,000 older adults, the odds of cognitive impairment were 73% higher for those who had symptoms of depression in early adulthood. Experts caution that further research is needed to explore the connection between dementia and depression.

Meet the Team at ExquisiCare
Dr. Paul Kivi 
MB BAO BCh, CCFP

Dr. Paul Kivi 
provides physician support for our three Edmonton locations.

He was born and raised in Ontario. He has dedicated his career to the care of seniors. Not only is Dr. Kivi the physician for the residents of ExquisiCare, but he also provides clinical services with Misericordia Community Hospital, Edmonton Oliver Primary Care Network, and Edmonton Regional Geriatric Services in geriatric medicine and rehabilitation. 
 
Dr. Paul Kivi is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta. He has received his Care of the Elderly Diploma from the University of Alberta where he also completed his Family Medicine Residency. Previously, Dr. Paul Kivi attended the University College Dublin where he received his medical degree.  
 
Dr. Paul Kivi is married with 2 children and in his spare time he is an avid mountain biker and outdoorsman of all sorts.
