FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EXTENDED: OVERNIGHT ENGINEERS RD DETOUR

BELLE CHASSE, LA. - The Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel Replacement Project announces an extension of the upcoming partial closure and detour around southbound Engineers Rd at LA-23.

The original closure and detour were scheduled to begin the evening of Monday, September 11 and end the morning of Friday, September 15. This work has been extended through Friday, September 22.

This will be in place overnight from 7:30PM each evening to 5:00AM the following morning. This is necessary to maintain public safety while asphalt work is being done. This work will be done only during these overnight hours; traffic will reopen during the day.

During this work, motorists will be unable to travel through Engineers Rd from southbound LA-23. Motorists wishing to access the closed area of Engineers Rd will need to utilize the detour, which routes traffic to Lapalco Blvd, through Wall Blvd, and over to Harvey Blvd. LA-23 will maintain normal traffic flow during this work. This detour is the same that was used for previous Engineers Rd work. A map of this detour is provided.
