Good afternoon

Starting Friday, December 9 at 7 p.m., through Monday afternoon, December 12, as part of our work at the 6/10, we need to close one of two lanes on Route 10 South in Providence to pave. Get more information here.

_
Hunts Mill Bridge, East Providence

Forward momentum continues at the new bridge, as workers reconstruct it over the Ten Mile River. All box beams have been installed and grouted, and just this week, concrete was placed prior to forming the approach slabs. A detour remains to direct motorists around the closed bridge. We are on schedule to open the bridge to traffic this winter and complete the project next summer.

I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

Various ramps at the I-95 North Exit 37 (old Exit 22) interchange and alternating lanes within the project area along I-95 will be closed for overnight bridge demolition and construction at the Route 146 approach. Weekdays, we need to close Park Street and take lanes on Ashburton Street South, for wall and foundation work. Follow signed detours during all closures.

_

Pawtucket/Central Falls Transit Center

Glass installations continued at the pedestrian bridge, ramps, and elevator shafts. Crews also installed handrail, the train warning system, and signage on both platforms, and the elevator on the southbound one. Mechanical and electrical systems rounded out project construction this past month with the completion of the fixtures, fire safety components, and their distribution network.

Pell Bridge Ramps Phase 2, Newport

Bridge rehabilitation and demolition will continue along Route 138 for the overpasses and may require temporary lane shifts along Third Street and JT Connell Highway. Weather permitting, a shift is scheduled for installation along Route 138 eastbound at the overpass bridges overnight on December 12, and a new traffic pattern with the opening of the new Connector Road, also overnight on either December 15 or 16. Additional travel advisory information will be sent out prior to this work. The new Connector Road will be striped, excavation for drainage and wetland work will continue near JT Connell Highway and the new Connector Road, and we’ll also install Rapid Flashing Beacons for the pedestrian crossings at the roundabout. Mast arm work will occur site wide, the wood rail installation near the cemetery will continue, as will grading and installation of the stone base at the rail track adjacent to the shared use path. Flaggers and police details will be onsite to guide vehicles through all work zones.

Reservoir Avenue Railroad Bridge, Providence

During the daytime hours, we will complete the deck forms, rebar, and expansion joints to accept the concrete bridge deck.  We also plan to excavate and grade the approaches. The bridge remains closed to motorists and pedestrians, with users following the signed detours

Route 6/10 Interchange Reconstruction, Providence

As part of this project, we have some extended weekend traffic pattern changes coming to Route 10 South on Friday, December 9. Prior to that, expect weekday alternating lane closures next week on Route 10 South to form parapets at the Tobey Street/Harris Avenue Bridge, and to construct retaining walls along the Harris Avenue approach to the Tobey Street Bridge.

_
Washington Bridge, East Providence/Providence

Next week, we plan to install temporary barrier, build the new connector road from Valley Street to Waterfront Drive, and install the new weather station. This useful tool will help us determine pavement temperatures/ conditions to better inform area motorists. As part of this overnight bridge work along I-195 West, we need to close Exit 1D (Gano Street), the Warren Avenue/Veterans Memorial Parkway and Taunton Avenue on-ramps, and alternating lanes. Please follow signed detours.
