This week, Kyle Pfannenstiel of Idaho Capital Sun brings us up to speed on efforts to contain Medicaid costs. House passes bill to further extend foster care

The Idaho House of Representatives passed a bill that would raise the maximum age at which willing foster youth can remain in extended foster care to 23, up from 21 years old.

Excise tax bill goes ‘gangster’ on wind farm projects

Idaho Capital Sun: If passed into law, the bill would require county commissioners to prepare a ballot question for voters where a new commercial wind project would be built. If voters disapprove of the project, the tax would be equal to $25,000 for every foot of height for any commercial wind turbine with a minimum height of 100 feet.

Coroner death investigation bill passes Senate

Idaho Capital Sun: A watchdog report released in 2024 by the Office of Performance Evaluations found deaths in Idaho were half as likely to undergo autopsies than the national rate — and that Idaho had the lowest homicide autopsy rate in the nation.
