Independent, but not alone!

One of the benefits of being independent is the freedom that our agents have to make the choices that they believe are right for their agency and clients.  With that freedom and independence can sometimes come isolation.  It is easy to become so focused in what is going on within your agency that we can lose the benefit of outside ideas, concepts, and influence.  There is a risk of becoming a silo.

Spending Too Much on MVRs?
PIA’s member-only program with DocIT for Agents is changing the way PIA members quote auto insurance.

DocIT for Agents is an online service that contains violation information on drivers sourced directly from court records (not the MVR). This alternative service can help agents place auto insurance applicants with the right insurance carrier earlier in the quoting process, making for a more efficient process which saves staff time in your agency.

On August 13, PIA National signed on to a joint letter organized by the National Farm Bureau Federation and National Farmers Union that was sent to the Chairmen and Ranking Members of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees, urging that the Farm Bill Conference Committee take swift action to resolve the differences between the House and Senate farm bills, and pass a conference report so it can be enacted into law.

More than 150 organizations, in addition to PIA, representing commodities groups, crop insurers, conservation groups, and farm credit signed on to the letter. Signers the American Association of Crop Insurers, Ducks Unlimited and the Farm Credit Council.

In addition to urging the Farm Bill Conference Committee to move swiftly in passing their report, the letter highlights the importance of crop insurance to farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses.

PIA National will continue to work with the members of the Farm Bill Conference Committee from the House and Senate, stressing the importance of crop insurance and the vital role of independent insurance agents who are critical to the delivery of the federal crop insurance program.
