An update from the MA DPH Bureau of Climate and Environmental Health:

A heat wave is expected in Massachusetts over the next seven days.  World Cup 2026 soccer events are expected to bring large crowds to Boston and across Massachusetts, including outdoor events and watch parties.  Please help keep everyone safe from unhealthy heat and prevent heat-related illness. People may be exposed to heat while traveling to events, attending pre-game activities, or spending time in direct sun or crowded outdoor spaces.  

Encourage people to: 

• drink water 
• limit alcohol 
• avoid heavy activity in the heat 
• take breaks in the shade or air conditioning 
• keep food cold and throw it out if it was left in the heat for too long 
• check on people at higher risk and share the resources below to help communities stay safe.
