SCDD's Guide about how to manage during the extreme heat event.
Thursday, September 1 - Tuesday, September 6, 2022
EXTREME HEAT is coming to California, with some areas experiencing temperatures above 110 degrees! The California State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) has created this guide as a friendly reminder to our staff and stakeholders to take precautions during this extreme weather event.
Be aware because extreme heat can cause health problems including heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and even death.
Check-in with people who may need help, including pets.
Stay indoors, in cool temperatures if you can, and keep hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as non-caffeinated beverages, like water.
Fruits or vegetables with high water-content (watermelon, watercress, lettuce, and apples) are also good sources to help stay hydrated.
