Heat Advisory and Air Quality Warning
 in Effect for the Weekend
Extreme heat and humidity are in the forecast today and throughout the weekend. Please take extra precautions while outside during this time. Drinking plenty of water, wearing light clothes, and limiting time outside can prevent dangerous heat stroke and dehydration.

Heat safety tips as well as information about cooling centers across Fairfax County this weekend can be found on the Fairfax County Emergency Information Blog.

Report Damage from July 8th Storm to Fairfax County
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has declared a State of Emergency following the widespread flooding event of July 8th. If your home or business was damaged as a result of this storm, I encourage you to report the damage to Fairfax County's Disaster Damage Database Submitting information to this database is completely voluntary, but the damage reports may impact what kind of federal disaster assistance (if any) can be made available to the County.  Fairfax County will also use the contact information collected to keep residents informed on the process of requesting federal assistance. Should you have any trouble completing the online form, please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Emergency Management at (571) 350-1000 for assistance.

Damage to Kirby Rd. (Fairfax County Police)

Fairfax County is also temporarily waiving all fees related to building permits, including  trades, for all repairs to correct damages arising from and directly associated with the July 8, 2019, weather event. This temporary waiver of fees, for a period not to exceed 90 days from the date of the declaration of local emergency, does not remove the requirement for adherence to all federal, state, and local building codes. This buffer is meant to give those seeking repairs for damages the time to work with insurance companies.

Thank you and have a safe weekend,
