Problems with tear production in the eyes can cause dry eyes. The discomfort that results from dry eyes may affect how you see. In some cases, dry eye can decrease your vision. Proper care and treatment can help relieve your symptoms of dry eye. July is Dry Eye Month, and Prevent Blindness has a number of educational resources that can help you learn more about this condition, its symptoms and treatments.

Dry Eye Month at Prevent Blindness is supported with funding from OCuSOFT ® Inc.

Prevent Blindness has declared June 28-July 4, 2025, as the Fifth Annual Fireworks Safety Awareness Week in an effort to educate the public on the dangers of fireworks. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that thousands of fireworks injuries are treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments around the Independence Day holiday, including many to the eyes and face. Some injuries lead to irreversible vision loss or even blindness. Learn the facts and be an advocate for safe summer celebrations.
