Prevent Blindness, in collaboration with Regeneron, is excited to announce the Gr8 Eye Movement campaign in Spanish, bringing important eye health resources to Spanish-speaking communities.
Created in 2023, the Gr8 Eye Movement is a national disease awareness campaign encouraging people—especially those at risk of serious retinal diseases—to prioritize their eye health. The campaign focuses on:
- Wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD)
- Diabetic macular edema (DME)
- Diabetic retinopathy (DR)
- Retinal vein occlusion (RVO)
To support at-risk individuals and their loved ones, the initiative promotes monthly vision checks on the 8th of each month. This could include using an Amsler grid to help detect if there are any changes in vision at home, scheduling an appointment with an eye doctor, or reminding a loved one to check their vision.
Spanish-speaking communities are among those at higher risk for developing certain retinal conditions—especially diabetic retinopathy.
