The Best of Holiday Traditions |
I love this time of year. I love talking to our students and staff about their holiday traditions and celebrations. One of the highlights of the season is the generosity I see every year from our Floresville Family. This is year is no exception. When so many are struggling, it warms my heart to know that many students, and even their entire families, will have a special memory from this Christmas, a gift, a meal or even a decorated tree. They will know that they are not alone at this special time of year and that others care about them. This will be my last Christmas as the FISD superintendent and one of the things I will miss the most is the tradition of giving, not just things, but hope. I wish you and yours the happiest of holidays. |

Floresville ISD Superintendent Retires Effective June |
At their December meeting, the FISD Board of Trustees accepted the retirement of Dr. Sherri Bays effective June 30, 2021. Dr. Bays has been in education 30 years, 26 of which have been spent at Floresville ISD with the last eight years serving as superintendent.

Report Student COVID-19 Cases & Contact Over the Holidays |
We hope you have a safe and healthy holiday; however, if your child tests positive or is in close contact with someone who tests positive over the break, please complete the COVID-19 Notification Form. An FISD nurse will contact you prior to January 7, 2021, regarding your child's return to campus.

FISD Growing Its Own Leaders |
FISD is growing its own leaders through the Floresville Educational Leadership Academy (FELA). Through this new program, all FISD employees have the opportunity to grow their leadership skills to positively impact Floresville schools.

Additional Early Release Dates for Spring of 2021 |
On December 7, the FISD Board of Trustees voted to adopt a revised school calendar to incorporate three student early release days during the spring semester. The additional early release days are January 29, 2021, March 12, 2021, April 16, 2021.

Welcome New FISD Board Member Liana Martinez |
In November, Liana Martinez was elected to represent Single Member District 3 on the FISD Board of Trustees. She was sworn-in at the board's December meeting.

'Tis the Season for Reading! |
Every student at FISD has access to e-books not only from their campus library but also from the Wilson County Public Library. All your child has to do is log into Classlink and find the Sora app. This is an exciting partnership that opens a new way to promote literacy within our schools and community! Remember, all reading is good reading!

Great People Doing Great Things |

The Floresville FFA is sending three teams to the (virtual) Texas FFA State Leadership Contests later this month. Heading to State is nothing new for our Leadership Teams as this marks the 10th consecutive year that the Floresville FFA has sent a team to compete at the highest level. Even though this year looks different with contests being held virtually, our students are still excelling! |

Jaguar Volleyball District, State Honors |
The Jags racked-up All-District play honors, including the Defensive Player of the Year, Faith Coldeway (left). They also scored big in the academic arena, with every team member named to the Academic All-District Team and seven Jags named to the Academic All-State team.

Every year, FISD students, staff, parents and community give generously so that all FISD families are able to have happier holidays. Now, more than ever, these donations make a difference. One of FISD's Core Beliefs is that helping one another strengthens our community. These donations are a testament to the strength of the Floresville Family. Thank you to the FISD District Social Worker, Jennifer Grant for assessing the needs of our families and ensuring donations get to them.
