President's Report
Public Testimony
President Goldenberg stated that today, beginning at 1:00 pm, the State Board will receive testimony
from registered members of the public on the draft revisions to the New Jersey Student Learning
Standards in five content areas. She stated this marks the third and final regional hearing on the draft
revisions.

Appointments
The State Board approved the following appointment pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:4-32-35 and N.J.A.C. 6A:2-1.1 et seq.:
• Dr. Lily Laux, Assistant Commissioner, Division of Educational Services
• Dr. Joseph Howe, Assistant Commissioner, Division of Finance and Business Services
• Mr. Christopher Williams, Chief of Staff
Commissioner Dehmer stated that Dr. Lily Laux would begin to serve as Acting Commissioner of Education effective at the end of the day.
New Business
President Goldenberg stated that today is bittersweet for the members of the State Board and
Department, as Commissioner Dehmer will conclude his tenure as Commissioner bringing to close a
hallmark career at the Department of Education. She stated the State Board thanks him for his
service and presented a resolution to Commissioner Dehmer.
