On Tuesday, June 4th, Gillespie will host a Field Day of activities. We would like to invite families to help in two parts of the day.

We will begin the day with an all-school breakfast. If you would like to volunteer to bring in some food for the breakfast, sign up on this Sign Up Genius. We are looking for things like bagels, donuts, and granola bars. If you would like to bring in food, we would like it to be here on Monday so we know what food we have and are able to set it up on Tuesday! We will, of course, accept food on Tuesday morning as well.

We will also be having a Grizzlies Go Run/Walk from 10:15-11:45. It will be an approximately two-mile run/walk for students and staff. If you would like to be on the sidelines encouraging students, here is the route the students will take! We would like to see signs, music, and/or cheering students on. If you are available during that time, we would love to see you there!

There will be the Grizzlies Go Run/Walk and a Big Games activity. Students are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and shoes on Tuesday!

¡Buenas tardes familias de Jefferson!

El martes 4 de junio, Jefferson organizará un día de actividades de campo. Invitamos a las familias a ayudar en dos partes del día.

Comenzaremos el día con un desayuno para toda la escuela. Si desea ser voluntario para traer algo de comida para el desayuno, regístrese en este Sign Up Genius. Estamos buscando cosas como bagels, donas y barras de granola. Si desea traer comida, nos gustaría que estuviera aquí el lunes para saber qué comida tenemos y poder prepararla el martes. Por supuesto, también aceptaremos comida el martes por la mañana.

BRAVO, 8th-Grade Musical Theatre Class! We hope you had the chance to see Miss Nelson is Missing! The Musical. They performed for John Muir second-grade elementary students and a second showing for the Gillespie community on May 21. We are proud of their hard work and outstanding performance.  

¡BRAVO, Clase de Teatro Musical de 8vo Grado! ¡Esperamos que hayas tenido la oportunidad de ver Miss Nelson is Missing! El musical. Actuaron para los estudiantes de segundo grado de primaria de John Muir y una segunda presentación para la comunidad de Gillespie el 21 de mayo. Estamos orgullosos de su arduo trabajo y desempeño sobresaliente.


All MMSD middle and high school students are eligible for a free Madison Metro Summer Bus Pass from June 1 to September 2. Students can get a pass at Gillespie by completing the Summer Bus Pass Sign-Up until June 3. After that, passes will be available at all MMSD summer school sites on June 14.

Todos los estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria de MMSD son elegibles para un pase de autobús de verano de Madison Metro gratuito para usar del 1 de junio al 2 de septiembre. 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony 
Thursday, June 6th

8:40 am—8th graders arrive (dressed and ready) as usual and report to their homerooms to discuss expectations for the day. Please bring students on time so they know what is going on!

9:15 - 10:00 am - PTO provides a buffet-style breakfast for 8th graders and immediate family (siblings and guardians only) in Memorial’s beautiful new atrium. Park on the Mineral Point side of Memorial and enter through the “Neighborhood Center.”

10:00 am - promotion ceremony begins in Memorial’s gym (enter through field house doors)

Balloons, noisemakers, signs, and other decor will not be allowed into the gym (there will be a place outside of the gym to store these things during the ceremony)

There will be a cake reception immediately following the ceremony. Students are then welcome to go home with their families to celebrate!

Ceremonia de Promoción de 8vo Grado - Jueves 6 de Junio

8:40 am: los estudiantes de octavo grado llegan (vestidos y listos) como de costumbre y se reportan a sus salones para repasar las expectativas del día. ¡Por favor traiga a los estudiantes a tiempo para que sepan lo que está pasando!

9:15 - 10:00 am - El PTO ofrece un desayuno estilo buffet para los estudiantes de 8º grado y sus familiares directos (solo hermanos y tutores) en el hermoso y nuevo atrio del Memorial. Estacione en el lado de Mineral Point del Memorial y entre por el "Centro Vecinal".

10:00 am - comienza la ceremonia de promoción en el gimnasio del Memorial (ingrese por las puertas de la casa de campo)

No se permitirá el ingreso al gimnasio de globos, matracas, letreros y otras decoraciones (habrá un lugar fuera del gimnasio para guardar estas cosas durante la ceremonia).

Inmediatamente después de la ceremonia habrá una recepción con pastel. Luego, los estudiantes pueden regresar a casa con sus familias para celebrar.

The new CDC guidelines have been accepted by MMSD (thru the medical advisory team) as of 3/12/24. It will affect you in the following ways:
  • No required 5 day isolation. Instead, stay home until you are feeling better and have not had fever, vomiting or diarrhea x 24 hours

  • When feeling better, take precautions for 5 days to avoid getting others sick such as wearing a well fitting mask, covering coughs and sneezes, and washing hands frequently.

  • Our new screener will talk about Respiratory viruses (covid, RSV, and influenza) and not just COVID-19.  No Covid testing will be required.
