Look What’s Happening in Family and Consumer Science Class!

6th Grade made grilled cheese with broccoli, English muffin pizzas, breakfast cookies, fruit and vegetable dip. They also created a dip comparing cheese bases and developing criteria to evaluate these.

7th Grade made gingerbread cutouts that a student requested and drop cookies to use our sour cream while applying baking principles.

8th Grade got creative, creating a fruit pizza and making tasty low-fat oven fries and south-of-the-border potatoes. We learned about varieties of potatoes and how to prepare and store them by playing potato jenga.

Los de sexto grado prepararon queso asado con brócoli, pizzas de muffins ingleses, galletas para el desayuno, salsa de frutas y verduras. También crearon una salsa comparando bases de queso y desarrollando criterios para evaluarlas.


El séptimo grado hizo recortes de pan de jengibre que un estudiante solicitó y soltó galletas para usar nuestra crema agria mientras aplicaba los principios de horneado.


El octavo grado se puso creativo, creó una pizza de frutas y preparó deliciosas papas fritas al horno bajas en grasa y papas del sur de la frontera. Aprendimos sobre las variedades de papas y cómo prepararlas y almacenarlas jugando al jenga de papa.
LATINO YOUTH SUMMIT

The summit aims to guide students through their transition from middle to high school and beyond in higher education and career endeavors. Through culturally relevant workshops and presentations, students will explore concepts of self-discovery, college/career preparation and Latinx identity. By connecting students to university and community resources, people and opportunities, students can continue to grow and foster their passions and dreams beyond the summit.

CUMBRE DE JÓVENES LATINOS (LATINO YOUTH SUMMIT)

El propósito de la cumbre se esfuerza por guiar a los estudiantes a través de su transición de la escuela intermedia a la preparatoria y más allá en la educación superior y sus esfuerzos profesionales. New This Year - Please Read This Important Information About School Closings

 8th-grade families, you are invited to a community presentation about the PEOPLE Program, a college readiness program for high schoolers. These sessions will cover program details, curriculum highlights, application procedures, and other pertinent information. Our virtual community presentation will be on January 28th at 1 pm, and our in-person will be on February 10th at 10 am in the PEOPLE Office at 240 Middleton Building, 1305 Linden Drive at UW-Madison’s campus. We will also offer help completing the application, which opens on January 22nd. More details will soon be released on our website, and the Zoom link to join the virtual presentation.

Familias de octavo grado, están invitadas a una presentación comunitaria sobre el Programa PEOPLE, un programa de preparación universitaria para estudiantes de secundaria. 8th to 9th Grade Transition Overview - Welcome to Memorial: This in-person event will provide an overview of the 8th to 9th grade transition and course selection process and an opportunity to explore electives course offerings. It will also allow you to ask drop-in, program-specific questions about each of the following: AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), DLI (Dual Language Immersion), Special Education, and English Language Learner programming.  This event will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. See the link below for details about the evening.

Vistazo a la transición del 8º al 9º grado – Les damos la bienvenida a Memorial: En este evento presencial compartiremos información general sobre el paso del 8º al 9º grado y sobre el proceso de seleccionar clases, incluyendo las clases electivas. COVID Information
If your student tests positive for Covid, please fill out the MMSD Student Screener (it is through IC so you will need your parent login. The school health office is unable to fill out the screener for you unfortunately). A contact tracer with the district will reach out and let you know next steps, like when the student can return to school. If you need masks or tests, we have them to give out at school. Just come to the office and we can have them ready for you.

Si su estudiante da positivo por Covid, complete el  cuestionario de evaluación de MMSD (se realiza a través de IC, por lo que necesitará que sus padres inicien sesión. Desafortunadamente, la oficina de salud de la escuela no puede completar el cuestionario por usted).
