Hispanic Heritage Month Potluck and Awards Celebration

The potluck was an amazing celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month! The evening was filled with great food, excitement, and celebration.   

Thanks to all our staff and families who organized this memorable event and cooked their favorite dishes.  

Families were delighted to see their children recognized and awarded for their hard work and contribution to the Gillespie community.

PTO volunteers are popping popcorn a few times each month. Students can purchase a bag for $1 or 4 Grizzly Tickets during lunch.

Students had a great time with DLI science teacher Daniel Sanchez last Saturday! They attended Dia de Futbol, an event at Breese Stevens Field sponsored by Forward Madison FC, MGE, and MOST, where the students went through different stations to paint their faces, learn about energy, design their own jerseys, and a soccer clinic with the team. They met the famous Mexican player Carlos Salcido, who played for many clubs worldwide, participated in 3 World Cups, and won the Olympics. He answered some questions for the kids, took pictures, and signed their posters.

After the event, the students received free tickets to attend the Forward Madison FC game.

¡Los estudiantes se lo pasaron muy bien con el maestro de ciencias de DLI, Daniel Sánchez, el sábado pasado! Asistieron al Día de Fútbol, un evento en Breese Stevens Field patrocinado por Forward Madison FC, MGE y MOST, donde los estudiantes pasaron por diferentes estaciones para pintarse la cara, aprender sobre energía, diseñar sus propias camisetas y una clínica de fútbol con el equipo. Conocieron al famoso jugador mexicano Carlos Salcido, quien jugó en muchos clubes de todo el mundo, participó en 3 Copas del Mundo y ganó los Juegos Olímpicos. Respondió algunas preguntas a los niños, tomó fotografías y firmó sus carteles.

Después del evento, los estudiantes recibieron boletos gratis para asistir al juego del Forward Madison FC.

SPARTAN YOUTH POMS TEAM


I’m Kate Grout, one of the VPMHS Poms coaches! I’m excited to share that we are starting a youth dance team to offer our future Spartans a low-cost, community-based dance training opportunity. Our goal is to nurture artistry and athleticism in these students and build a dance team that is representative of the VPMHS student body in all ways. We are accepting 6-8th graders of all experience levels to join the Spartan Youth Poms Team. Beginning 10/16, practices will be held on Mondays from 4-5:30 pm at VPMHS in the dance studio. The link to our Google form registration and our flier I are attached below. Students and their families are encouraged to email kategrout97@gmail.com for more information.

¡Soy Kate Grout, una de las entrenadoras de VPMHS Poms! Me emociona compartir que estamos formando un equipo de baile juvenil para ofrecer a nuestros futuros Spartans una oportunidad de entrenamiento de baile comunitario y de bajo costo. Nuestro objetivo es fomentar el arte y el atletismo en estos estudiantes y formar un equipo de baile que sea representativo del cuerpo estudiantil de VPMHS en todos los sentidos. MSCR / AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM UPDATES

Hello Gillespie Parents!

I hope you're doing well! Here are a couple of updates for MSCR and SOH. MSCR has officially started, and I am still working on trying to get a bus. Just a reminder, the MSCR Program is a drop-in program; students can show up and sign in with their ID number for any club they would like to participate in. Games for sports have officially started as well. The links have the info on the dates, times, and teams.


SOH (Schools of Hope): I am still looking for tutors to come in and help the students. Please let me know if you are interested in getting your student a tutor. I have some volunteers who are willing to help. Thank you all for working with me this far.

ACTUALIZACIONES DEL PROGRAMA MSCR / DESPUÉS DE LA ESCUELA

¡Hola padres de Gillespie!

¡Espero que lo estés haciendo bien! Aquí hay un par de actualizaciones para MSCR y SOH. MSCR ha comenzado oficialmente y todavía estoy trabajando para conseguir un autobús. Sólo un recordatorio: el programa MSCR es un programa sin cita previa; los estudiantes pueden presentarse e inscribirse con su número de identificación en cualquier club en el que deseen participar. Los juegos deportivos también han comenzado oficialmente. Los enlaces tienen la información sobre las fechas, horarios y equipos.
