We want to ensure a smooth return in the fall with this important update:

Middle School Start and Stop Times 2024-25
8:50 a.m. Doors open/entry/breakfast 
9:00 a.m. Learning starts 
2:45 p.m. Monday early release 
4:25 p.m. Tuesday–Friday dismissal

Specific information about bus stops and pick-up/drop-off times will be shared in August. In the meantime, thank you for your engagement, partnership, and continued support of the Madison Metropolitan School District.

On the evening of April 24, we honored and celebrated the outstanding achievement of our students with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the first three quarters of the 2023-24 school year. We are proud of you; keep up the excellent work! Thanks to all the families who joined the celebration.

The Madison Promise Online Program application window for the 2024-25 school year opened Monday, April 22. The application is open to all students who will be entering grades 6-12 and are interested in virtual learning.

MMSD is excited to introduce a new way for families to monitor their students’ transportation: the FirstView app from First Student. 

FirstView provides location data via GPS tracking and sends notification alerts when a student’s bus is approaching. It can track all the students in a household or associated with a caregiver account. It’s the easiest and fastest way to get answers to questions like, “When will the bus show up?” and “How can I see when my child will be picked up or dropped off?”  

It should be noted that the app’s functionality does not extend to special ed transportation at this time.

MMSD se complace en presentar una nueva forma para que las familias controlen el transporte de sus estudiantes: la aplicación FirstView, de First Student.

FirstView proporciona datos de ubicación mediante seguimiento GPS y envía alertas de notificación cuando el autobús de un estudiante se acerca. Se puede utilizar para realizar un seguimiento de todos los estudiantes de un hogar/asociados con una cuenta de cuidador. Es la forma más fácil y rápida de obtener respuestas a preguntas como "¿Cuándo llegará el autobús?" y “¿Cómo puedo saber cuándo recogerán o dejarán a mi hijo(a)?”

Cabe señalar que la funcionalidad de la aplicación no se extiende al transporte de educación especial en este momento.

On May 22 and 23, seventh graders will have the opportunity to participate in Gillespie’s long-standing tradition: The Mad City Challenge!

MCC is an exploration of downtown Madison and the UW campus. Students lead the way to the views from the Memorial Union Terrace and the State Capitol and explore the Veterans and UW Geology museums. They complete challenges at a city fire station and throughout Camp Randall. They end the day with a scoop of ice cream at UW's Babcock Hall.

El 22 y 23 de mayo, los estudiantes de séptimo grado tendrán la oportunidad de participar en la larga tradición de Gillespie: ¡The Mad City Challenge!

MCC, por sus siglas en inglés es una exploración del centro de Madison y el campus de la Universidad de Wisconsin . Los estudiantes abren el camino hacia las vistas desde Memorial Union Terrace y el Capitolio del Estado y exploran los museos de Veteranos y Geología de la Universidad de Wisconsin. Completan desafíos en una estación de bomberos de la ciudad y en todo Camp Randall. Terminan el día con una bola de helado en el Babcock Hall de la Universidad de Wisconsin .

Updated Info From the Health Office

The new CDC guidelines have been accepted by MMSD (thru the medical advisory team) as of 3/12/24. It will affect you in the following ways:

  • No required 5 day isolation. Instead, stay home until you are feeling better and have not had fever, vomiting or diarrhea x 24 hours

  • When feeling better, take precautions for 5 days to avoid getting others sick such as wearing a well fitting mask, covering coughs and sneezes, and washing hands frequently.

  • Our new screener will talk about Respiratory viruses (covid, RSV, and influenza) and not just COVID-19.  No Covid testing will be required.

MMSD (a través del equipo asesor médico) aceptó las nuevas pautas de los CDC a partir del 12/03/24. Te afectará de las siguientes maneras:

  • No se requiere aislamiento de 5 días. En su lugar, quédese en casa hasta que se sienta mejor y no haya tenido fiebre, vómitos o diarrea durante 24 horas.

MSCR / AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM

MSCR Updates: flag football, track, and ultimate frisbee have started. 

Flag football played its first game against Cherokee and did great! Frisbee is run as a club, so all grade levels are welcome. Stay tuned for updates on track meets.

The bike club has officially started. Join Ms. Vena for a relaxing bike ride.



Schools of Hope Updates:

The Urban League of Greater Madison Young Professionals is hosting a fantastic event on Saturday, May 4th, 2024. Pathways to Power Summit is geared towards middle and high school students in STEM and Arts fields. It will be held at the MyARTS location from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Actualizaciones de MSCR: El fútbol de bandera, el atletismo y el último frisbee han comenzado.

¡Flag tuvo su primer juego contra Cherokee y lo hizo genial! Frisbee funciona como un club, por lo que todos los niveles de grado son bienvenidos. Estén atentos a las actualizaciones sobre las competencias en pista.
