Our Hispanic Heritage Month is a rich educational experience packed with a diverse range of activities, each one a unique tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. From a Hispanic spelling bee to a football tournament and spirit week, there's something for all students to enjoy and participate in while learning about Hispanic culture and its contributions.  

Our students are busy collaborating on banners or floats highlighting Hispanic culture and famous Hispanic Americans during WIN time. They will display their creations during our Hispanic heritage parade throughout the school on the afternoon of October 11th. We will follow a shortened schedule, and after the parade, we will celebrate with freeze pops and the championship soccer tournament. Details to follow. 

On October 9th, we invite all the families of Gillespie to a Hispanic Heritage potluck dinner at 6:00 p.m. to celebrate the excellent Hispanic food and recipes carried down through the generations. Please complete this Google form if you would like to participate by sharing a dish. All are welcome!

The Fall Break is approaching. Many of you may be celebrating Thanksgiving. If you need assistance with your holiday celebration, the Goodman Community Center is offering Thanksgiving Baskets for a limited number of families. MMSD families are offered registration starting on October 7th through October 23rd at 5pm. If you are interested please register quickly, starting on October 7th. The instructions are in this registration link and are in English and Spanish. Please read the instructions carefully. You will receive a postcard from the Goodman Center with your pick up date and time and you will need to pick the basket up at the Goodman Center on the east side of Madison.

Reminder for Sports: Tuesday reports are due at the end of the day on Tuesdays; there are no exceptions. Also, if there are more than two missing assignments, they will sit out of a game until those missing assignments are completed.
