PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE INFORMATION
We look forward to meeting with you about your child’s progress this year. Conferences will be held Wednesday, Nov 15, in the evening and all day Friday, Nov 17. There will be no school for students on Friday, Nov 17.
You will receive an email or phone call from your child’s 1st-hour teacher to schedule a conference. Gillespie staff will continue reaching out to you before November 15th and 17th to schedule a conference. A planning sheet is below to help you prepare for your child’s conference. Feel free to use this document to guide your conference conversations.
If you do not receive an email or phone call from your child’s teacher by the week of Nov 13 or need assistance reaching your child’s 1st-hour teacher, please get in touch with the Gillespie office at (608)663-6403.

Adjusted Bus Routes
Began Monday, November 6
Updated Breakfast Plan Implemented
Our updated breakfast plan is going smoothly!
With the new changes to route times, Gillespie bus students now arrive at 8:35 a.m. We have not adjusted our bell schedule, but we have adjusted our morning routines. Upon arrival, students should do the following:
- Go directly to their lockers to drop off coats, backpacks and cell phones.
- Gather computer and binder (that’s all they need for the entire day)
- Stop and get breakfast (if desired) and go directly to 1st hour.
The first 10 (ish) minutes will be spent eating breakfast and getting settled to begin instruction. Our days all start with P.A.C.K. time lessons to support students with relationship building, academic routines and other school-related information. This is a great topic to ask your students about!

From the Health Office
COVID Information
If your student tests positive for Covid, please fill out the MMSD Student Screener (it is through IC so you will need your parent login. The school health office is unable to fill out the screener for you unfortunately). A contact tracer with the district will reach out and let you know next steps, like when the student can return to school. If you need masks or tests, we have them to give out at school. Just come to the office and we can have them ready for you.
8th Grade Vision Screening
MMSD completes universal vision screening for students in PK, 4K, K, 3, 5, & 8. We will be completing our vision screening for all 8th grade students over the next few weeks. If your student is prescribed glasses or contacts, please make sure that they have them during the month of November as they will need to wear them during the screening process. If concerns are noted, we will reach out to you with a letter that is sent home with the student and also by text.

7th Grade Computers have been working on PLTW R&A building simple and bevel gears.
Digital Media created beautiful pom pom creatures and GCMS built, tested, and raced skimmers.

MSCR / AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM UPDATES
Hello Gillespie Families!
I hope you all are doing well! Here are a few updates:
Basketball forms have been passed out. Students have until Nov. 13th to turn in the forms to participate. Coach Jones will hold the first practice on Nov.13th.
Wrestling club is new and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday with Coach Martin. See Ms. Issis or Mr. Martin for the participation form.
The afterschool program will be canceled Nov.15th due to parent-teacher conferences.
School of Hope updates - Please let me know if your student is still looking for a tutor. I have some new tutors who would love to be placed with our students! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please get in touch with me.
