In May next year, an exciting showcase will take place in Fife to promote sustainability and demonstrate how new methods of construction can be transferred to mainstream affordable housing.
What is HIS 2012?

Earlier this year, Kingdom Housing Association and Fife Council set out plans to deliver a Housing Innovation Showcase in 2012, on the site of one of Kingdom's new build developments, in Dunfermline.

The showcase of contemporary and future housing will be unveiled in May 2012:

  • 3.5 million project is partly funded by the Scottish Government and is a partnership project by Kingdom Housing Association and Fife Council, supported by Fife Construction Forum and Green Business Fife.
  • 27 new properties demonstrating 10 different Modern Methods of Construction.
  • Technologies capable of being mainstreamed as part of future affordable housing projects.
  • Supporting exhibition bringing together consultants, contractors and suppliers from across the UK, to promote their products and services.
  • A comprehensive monitoring programme of the performance of the different systems.
  • A comparative analysis of the different renewable energy options being used.
  • Programme of events, trade and educational visits.
  • Employment opportunities for local work force and suppliers.

The masterplan was developed by Oliver & Robb Architects and Scott Bennett Associates, as Kingdom's framework consultants, and the infrastructure contract is now on site. Work is being carried out by the framework contractor, Campion Homes, who will develop the serviced plots for the different house systems.

On the back of this flagship project an exhibition is planned within the site to showcase the products, services and technology related to modern methods of construction. Exhibitors will have exposure on a national stage with industry buyers and professionals being attracted from across the UK.

The showcase will open with a week long programme of media visits, technical tours, visits from education groups and general public open days, followed by a further period of two weeks for seminars and invited viewings of the housing innovation showcase.

A national advertising and publicity campaign is in place to promote the exhibition and wider project, opening up excellent market opportunities. Fife Council will undertake co-ordination of the advanced preparation, administration and design-build of the exhibition space, on your behalf.

The associated costs are dependant on the amount of space and requirements of participants.

There are 4 main stand packages available, however this can be flexible dependant on requirements. Training and access to professional marketing advice will also be available to participants. Space is limited!
