Ongoing Projects Meet Essential Needs

Thank you for your ongoing support for the faithful Jewish Community of Namutumba, UGANDA.

Here are some of the projects updates:

Entrepreneurship:

Start-Up Kippot Business

The women of the Namutumba Abayudaya make beautiful hand-knitted kippot (Jewish skull caps) and challah covers. We have provided the start-up funds so that the women can purchase supplies. They have been knitting kippot and challah covers that are available in our store for sale!

FOOD:

Shabbat and Holiday Meals: One of the most important things Ezra Uganda Assistance does throughout the year is to provide funds for community meals on every Shabbat, Festival, and High Holidays. The Jews in Namutumba are devoted to Jewish practice and coming together to share a meal together is very meaningful to everyone. We are currently accepting donations for the upcoming Shavuot Festival and High Holy Days.

Eytz Chayim

Jewish Day School

Recently Ezra Uganda constructed two new classrooms for the Eytz Chayim Jewish Day School where students are educated in all subjects as well as Judaism. This school provides a safe space for learning as well as meals that the children would not get at home. Like young saplings these students will grown in strong adults who are dedicated to Judaism and it’s culture and history.

These parents care for children who are disabled physically or developmentally—or both. There are few resources to help families with disabled children, so the families came together behind a plan to develop means of supporting their needs through raising chickens.
