In conjunction with the Florida Association of Code Enforcement, Inc. (F.A.C.E.), The Florida Institute of Government at Florida State University will be providing the classes and exam required for the “Fundamentals of Code Enforcement” certification in Panama City from October 24 - 28, 2022. This 36-hour course is an introduction to the code officer's daily activities and covers a broad range of topics including Verbal & Written Communication Skills, Ethics, Legal Aspects, Property Ownership, and the Principles and Practices of Code Enforcement.

Class Information

CLASS PERIOD: Classes run from Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm each day and Friday from 8:00 - 12:00 pm. (Lunch & snacks are on your own.) Please note that all times are Central Time (CT).

CLASS REGISTRATION FEES: Active F.A.C.E. members: $550.00; Non-F.A.C.E. members: $750.00

Exam Information

EXAM REQUIREMENTS: After attending the required 36 hours of classes, Code Enforcement officers must successfully pass an examination in order to receive certification in “Fundamentals of Code Enforcement."


EXAM PERIOD: The Fundamentals of Code Enforcement Exam will be held on Friday afternoon, October 28th, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm (CT)

EXAM FEES: Active F.A.C.E. Members: $100.00;  Non-Members: $150.00

PAYMENT FOR CLASS: You can pay by check or credit card.


REFRESHMENTS: Coffee will be provided in the morning but refreshments and lunch are on your own each day.


CONFIRMATION OF REGISTRATION: You will receive a confirmation letter from the IOG at FSU upon registration and payment of CLASS and EXAM fees. 


IMPORTANT POLICY NOTE: Effective Jan. 1, 2016, no person may attend F.A.C.E. training or take an exam if approved payment has not been made prior to the start of the class or exam.


REFUND POLICY: Requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and received no later than ten business days prior to the first day of classes (i.e., no later than October 10, 2022.) In such cases, the registration fee, less a $75 administration charge, will be refunded. No requests for refunds will be honored after that date. Non-attendance does not constitute a withdrawal or refund.
