FA Athletics This Week
The last couple of weeks have certainly been different. Both the girls and boys basketball teams have experienced quarantines and, with that, loss of practice time and game experience. The girls were able to play a game last week, and the boys had their first practice in eleven days this past Saturday and Sunday.

Our teams are under great care with Adam Norman, our very talented and dedicated head athletic trainer. We all feel better just knowing that he is looking out for us.

Our boys team understandably remains a bit rusty, and it seems as if we are starting over. However, just to be on the court has provided us with some normalcy. As the coach, I am proud that the boys are giving what they can before our return on the court later this week. My goal is for us to improve each game and to get back into competitive shape and game readiness this week.

We extend our best wishes to the dozen FA Swimmers who will be competing at the GISA State Swim Meeting at Georgia Tech in Atlanta this weekend. These student-athletes have been training and competing since summer to earn this opportunity.

Good luck and go Knights!

FA 32 | St. Andrews 40

The Lady Knights traveled to St. Andrews on Thursday night, losing a nail bitter. St. Andrews is a very skilled and aggressive team. They did a great job of putting pressure on our guards. The Knights fought hard the entire game, and we went to the free-throw line 23 times. We allowed 25 points from outside shots. We have to do a better job of getting out on the shooters. Tiana Jackson was our leading scorer with 17 points. St. Andrews will travel to Frederica on Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.

We won a 13-12 barn burner against St. Francis by holding off a late run. Mary Ford Fitzjurls scored four points in the last four minutes of the game to give us a cushion. Overall, we had a great team effort.

We played hard against St. Simons Christian but came up short. Every player played, and gametime continuity continues to grow for our young Knights team.

Go Knights!

Part of the Varsity Swim team traveled to Waycross last Thursday for the Last Chance Invitational. We competed against Tiftarea, Ware County, Fitzgerald, Valwood, Pierce County, and Wayne County High Schools. This was the last meet before the State Meet this weekend.

JJ Briggs and Ashley Prokop both competed in new events this meet and both qualified for State in those events. JJ got 4th in the 200 Freestyle and Ashley 2nd in the 200 IM. JJ also placed 5th in the 50 Free, and Ashley placed 2nd in the 100 Backstroke, with both swimmers dropping times in their respective events. Holly Lewis swam the 50 Free and 100 Free. She did an amazing job dropping over 2 seconds in the 50 and almost 4 seconds in the 100. Those are very impressive drops in time.

This Saturday, we have 12 swimmers traveling to Atlanta for the GISA State Meet held at Georgia Tech. Please wish JJ Briggs, Katie Eckert, Andrew Kaminer, Holly Lewis, Cammie Pope, Ashley Prokop, Chandler Sitz, Gillian Sullivan, Spencer Sullivan, Jimmy McQuade, Lea Maye Smith, and Emily Wyrick luck if you see them in school this week.
