A Message from the Athletic Director

This past week, Middle School and Varsity Volleyball ended their seasons. Both teams showcased impressive improvement throughout the fall. By the end of their season, our Middle School girls were serving overhand and doing it well. That is what Middle School sports are about. It's not just about winning, it's about exploring your interests, improving your skills, being confident to move on to the next level, developing friendships with your teammates, and having fun. Thank you to our Middle School Lady Knights and Coach Hunt for all of that and more.

I was also impressed with our Varsity Volleyball team this year. They were so passionate about this season. It started in the summer and ended this past Tuesday. They had some huge wins and great matches. I enjoy keeping the clock for them as I get the chance to be a part of this team. Coach Brittany Griffin had the girls working hard each day in practice and executing on game days. They had an impressive 16-8 record, leaving many big public schools in their wake. The program has indeed improved over the last few years, and it's great to see that our student-athletes are so passionate about volleyball. Thank you to our four seniors who have given so much to the team and this program. Best wishes and thanks to Anna Counts, Tiana Jackson, Ali Brown-Winans, and Ryann Hankey. Ryann is not quite done playing as she will also play in the GIAA All-Star Game this fall. Congratulations to Coach Griffin, all of our seniors, and our entire team for their successful season.

Congratulations to Coach Derrick, his staff, and the players for their homecoming victory over Robert Toombs. They have shown maximum effort and resilience over the last few games. The Varsity Football team has a well-deserved Friday night off this week to rest and prepare for their upcoming region contests.

We have the Middle School Cross Country Championship at the College of Coastal Georgia today and two Middle School Tennis matches this Tuesday and Wednesday. The Varsity Cross Country team runs at the college on Thursday, and the Middle School Football team and Cheerleaders travel to Savannah on Thursday to take on Bethesda, which is their last game of the season. Good luck to all of our Knights this week!

Go Knights!

Monday vs. Brantley County

The Lady Knights faced Brantley County on Monday for their Senior Night. We honored our Seniors Anna Counts, Ali Brown-Winans, Tiana Jackson, and Ryann Hankey. The Lady Knights started off strong and never looked back, sweeping Brantley County in all three sets, 25-9, 25-7, and 25-8. The team was led by our Seniors Ali Brown-Winans with fourteen aces, Ryann Hankey with twelve aces, Anna Counts with five aces, and Tiana Jackson with three aces. Thank you, Seniors, for all your commitment over the years, and we are so excited to see what your future has in store!

Tuesday vs. Strong Rock Christian

The Lady Knights traveled to Marietta on Tuesday to play their State play-in game against Strong Rock Christian. With a slower start to the evening, the Lady Knights settled in and played their hearts out in the final two sets. Ultimately, the Lady Knights lost to Strong Rock Christian. The Lady Knights had an amazing season, and I couldn't be more proud of them. They improved by leaps and bounds over the last couple of seasons and are so proud of their 16-8 finish to the season!

Middle School Cross Country

The Middle School Cross Country team ran their penultimate meet this past Thursday at the College of Coastal Georgia. The boys ran hard in the 5k meet. The team's top 5 runners all posted times under 27:30 for the event, which was the best performance of the year for the team. Henry Dorminy paced the boys with a time of 25:23. Miller Durkin, Jack Shiver, Joe Johnson, Campbell Brown, Connor Floyd, Eddie Myers, and Jacob Gordon all set personal records at the meet. The boys will have their final race at CCGA today at 5:00 p.m.

Middle School Football

Middle School Knights took down St. Andrews last Tuesday in front of the home crowd. It was not a great first half of football for the Knights with several turnovers and negative plays. As the first half came to a close, the Knights put together a great drive that resulted in a touchdown on the final play as Conner Ellis connected with Stanton Beverly over the middle. The second half resulted in 21 more points for the Knights, leading to a 28-14 victory.

Middle School Tennis

The FA Middle School Tennis team traveled to Camden County for Frederica's second match of the season against Camden Middle. The Frederica team was once again victorious against Camden, winning 5-0. FA matches were won by Singles player Ava Smith, Singles player Nik Reinshagen, the Doubles team of Ahna Floy and Kamaya Quarterman, the Doubles team of Wells Dixon and Cammie Sams, and the Doubles team of Peter Vinci and John Quincy Evans. The FA Doubles teams this year have been very solid. Our depth of players and skill has been our key to success this year!

The FA Middle School Tennis Team finished the week with a loss in their rematch against a tough St. Francis team on Wednesday. We were excited about this rematch, but unfortunately, we could not quite get the win. There is a good chance that we will see St. Francis in the Region Championships in a few weeks, which should be another great match. FA did record nice wins from Ella Barker in Singles and Kelly Offner and Elyse Erwin in Doubles. Many of our players were also able to play practice matches. I have seen great improvement from our players when we can play these extra matches!

FA Middle Tennis has a busy and tough week ahead, with Glynn Middle on Tuesday at the Glynn Academy Courts and St. Marys Middle on Wednesday in Camden. Come out and join us!

Middle School Volleyball

What a great way for the Middle School team to end the season. They showed up to play at the championship last night. We ended the season in 6th place and had to take the court at the Championship against the 3rd place team Risley Middle School. The girls have grown so much with their passing and serving. They gave Risley a run for their money; they really had to work to take each set from the Knights. The final score was 24-26 and 22-25. It was a great way to end the year, and I can't wait to see how they perform next year.

Go Knights!
