The game on Friday night was a battle between two really good football teams. Pinewood came in with an explosive offense, stout defense, and superior special teams. We brought our effective and efficient offense with the "shut the door" defense, which is only giving up 10.8 points per game, and our steady special teams. So the clash was set, and the scoring was low in the first half, but the action was great. Blake Holloway, Bryce Reilly, and Josh Meadows made some touchdown-saving tackles while both offenses moved the ball up and down the field. Both teams missed opportunities to score because of penalties. We drove inside the ten-yard line but had a field goal get blocked, while Pinewood got inside the ten and missed a field goal. In the second quarter, we had a bad snap on a punt that cost us two points on a safety. The defense answered the call on the next drive and stopped Pinewood and forced a punt in which we took the ball around the 35-yard line on our side of the field. Two plays later, Thomas Veal connected with Josh Meadows for a 61-yard touchdown pass and gave us the lead going into the half at 7-2.
The third quarter was much of the same as the first quarter, but right at the end of the third came the spark we needed. Eli Fritchman intercepted a pass on the Pinewood 45-yard line, and our offense answered the call with a touchdown on Jordan Triplett's run from six yards out to push the score to 13-2 with about 9 minutes to play in the game. As usual, the defense forced a turnover on downs in Pinewood territory with about six minutes to play. We had "BIG MO" at that moment, and our offensive line showed it. They dominated Pinewood's front line, and Jordan Triplett raced 39 yards on 4th and 1 to push the score to 20-2. Pinewood scored with about four minutes left in the game to make the score 20-8, and Mason McGraw secured the onside kick, and we went back to work on offense where we only needed one first down. Not to worry, the O-Line pushed PCA around on the next three plays, and we had collected the yards for the first down to ensure the win.
On the night, Thomas Veal was 9 of 16 for 174 yards and 1 TD. Jordan Triplett carried the ball 25 times and amassed 136 yards, rushing and 2 TD's. Of his total, 90 of those yards came in the fourth quarter. Josh Meadows had four receptions for 107 yards and 1 TD, while also accumulating 9 solo tackles and 4 assists on defense. As for the defense, we bent a little at times, but we never broke until late in the 4th quarter. By then, the offense had been efficient and effective enough to secure the victory. Overall, the offense amassed 296 yards, and our defense gave 283 yards. But on the night, our defense made the plays needed to win the game and came up time and time again. It was truly a team victory marked by effort and determination. The kids played great and gave all they had.

We hosted the Second Annual Frederica Academy Invitational Swim Meet this past Saturday at the YMCA in Brunswick. With almost 250 swimmers from all over the state of Georgia, the meet was a huge success! Public schools and independent schools attended, making the competition fierce!
The Frederica Knights showed up ready to compete! The Varsity Swim team did great! Cammie Pope and Spencer Sullivan swam first in the 200-yard Freestyle. Spencer took 8th place, and Cammie took 9th place, and they both earned qualifying times for the State Meet. Cammie also earned a state-qualifying time in the 100 Freestyle, and Spencer earned a state-qualifying time in the 50 Freestyle. Ashley Prokop took 10th place in the 50 Freestyle, beating her previous state-qualifying time. Ashley shaved 3.84 seconds off her previous state-qualifying 100 Freestyle swim and earned a qualifying state time in the 100 Backstroke. Andrew Kaminer took 9th in the 50 Freestyle, 9th in the 100 Freestyle, and 7th in the 100 Breaststroke. Andrew earned state-qualifying times in all of his events. The Girls Varsity 200-yard Freestyle Relay placed 10th. This relay was comprised of Ashley Prokop, Holly Lewis, Gillian Sullivan, and Cammie Pope. Maddison Moore, Ella Moore, and Holly Lewis swam in their first meet of the year and did well. Gillian Sullivan shaved an amazing 2.43 seconds off of her 50 Freestyle.
The Middle School Swim team had an awesome day. Most of these swimmers are new to the sport this year, and we are so pleased with their commitment! Jimmy McQuade dominated. Jimmy took 8th in the 50 Freestyle, 6th in the 100 Freestyle, and 6th in the 50 Breaststroke. Jimmy has state-qualifying times in all his events. Connor Pope shaved 3.47 seconds off of his 50 Freestyle and a total of 4.17 seconds off his 100 Freestyle. Connor took 10th place in the boys 50 Backstroke. The Boys 200-yard Freestyle Relay comprised of Jimmy McQuade, Connor Pope, Elliot Sullivan, and Johnny McQuade took 6th place. We had several 5th Grade boys that swam with the Boys Middle School team, and they were great! Jack Dorminy, Turner Rentz, Elliot Sullivan, and Johnny McQuade put their hearts in their events, and we are so proud of them.
The Girls Middle School team had some great times! Lea Maye Smith swam qualifying times in all three of her events - the 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, and 50 Backstroke. Emily Wyrick, a first-time swimmer, shaved an unbelievable 5.10 seconds off of her 50 Breaststroke, earning a state-qualifying time! The Girls 200-yard Freestyle Relay took 9th place and was comprised of Lea Maye Smith, Maggie Dorminy, Laila Gilbert, and Emily Wyrick. Maggie Dorminy and Laila Gilbert both shaved time off their 50 Freestyle. Ava Smith swam in her first swim meet and had great starting times.
We are so excited about our teams this year! We were up against some really tough teams this weekend, especially Richmond Hill. We are looking forward to a great season.

Frederica vs. Risley – November 9
During the first half, Frederica focused on defense and held Risley from scoring. The Knights had several nice corner kicks in the first half by Mary Ford Fitzjurls but the Knights were unable to convert a goal. The defensive squad (Mavry Driggers, Nicholle Patron, Lauren Dunn, and Nyah Forrester) all played very strong throughout the first half. Maura Dooley had several shots on goal in the first half, without success. Risley’s goalie made several good saves. The score at halftime was 0-0.
During the second half, the Knights turned up the offense with a number of solid offensive plays. With 17:25 remaining in the half, Mary Ford Fitzjurls took a penalty kick that went just wide of the goal. A minute later, the Knights took a shot on goal, but it was stopped. A minute after that, the Knights again tried a goal, getting past the goalie, but shooting just wide. At 13:30 remaining, Mary Ford again sent in a corner kick and the Knights scored their first goal. The Knights kept the pressure on the Risley defense and scored again (Kate Head) at the six-minute mark. As in the first half, the defense squad held the Risley offense silent. Goalkeeper, Reese Hankey, saw very little action but was well-positioned throughout the game. Knights win, 2-0!
Frederica vs. St Marys – November 12
Frederica traveled to St. Marys to take on the Bobcats. Each team had several corner kicks that were defended well by both teams. During the first half, Frederica focused on defense and held the Bobcats from scoring. The defense squad (Kate Head, Catherine Dunn, Lauren Dunn, and Nyah Forrester) all played very strong throughout the first half. Both teams were evenly matched.
During the second half, the play continued at a steady pace. The Bobcats came out and took a strong goal kick but the defense held off a goal. With 16:40 remaining, the Bobcats had a free-kick as a result of a handball, and both goalkeeper, Reese Hankey, and defender Nyah Forrester did an awesome job keeping the Bobcats scoreless. Audrey Shingler and Kate Head played strong defense as the Bobcats continued to push the ball, several times, towards the goal. Keeper, Reese Hankey, did a great job attacking the ball and preventing the Bobcats from scoring. She had four solid saves in the second half. With 25 seconds left in the game, the Bobcats mounted a strong scoring opportunity and Nyah Forrester made a goal-saving defensive kick denying the Bobcats the opportunity to score. The final score was 0-0.

The boys Middle School soccer team played Risley last Monday and held the score to 0-2. From the first moment the boys took the field they demonstrated their skill and confidence on the pitch. Kingston Blogg was outstanding in goal as he successfully repelled numerous attacks. Grant Prokop guarded Risley's top player, and Trey Walbridge and Max Byrd were forces to reckon with at mid-field. All players were essential and worked well together as a team.
On Thursday, the boys faced off against St. Marys Middle School. Unfortunately, the team lost 0-5. However, all the boys played very well. Luke Sarzier was fearless and played with heart. Jacob Gordan played man-to-man and covered their top player extremely well. Overall, these two games were played well by the Middle School FA team.
This week, FA will face Needwood on Wednesday.
Please come out and cheer the boys on to victory.
Go Knights!
