The Lady Knights traveled to Pinewood to play in the Region Tournament on Tuesday night to play St. Andrews. We knew it was going to be a tough game. St. Andrews is a physical team. The girls battled hard the whole game. We usually start slow in the first quarter, but on Tuesday we started out by hitting a few shots and took an early lead. We were down by one going into halftime. We came out in the third quarter and allowed them to hit three 3-pointers, which gave them an eight-point lead. The girls did a great job fighting back in the fourth quarter by breaking down the lead to three with three minutes left. We could not convert some easy buckets and allowed St. Andrews to clinch the game with free throws and made shots.

Maddie Baldwin was the leading scorer with 6 points, Tiana Jackson had 5 points, and Sophie Price had 4 points. I am very proud of the way our team played this year. We improved each game, and the work the girls displayed this season was very admirable. We will miss Madysson Patron next year. She has been a great leader, captain, and has served the team well this year. I am looking forward to getting some skills-training this summer and continuing to improve for next year!

Go Knights!

Varsity Boys Basketball
It was a difficult Region Tournament for the Knights last week. We lost to Bulloch Academy (52-46) on Thursday and we were defeated by Pinewood Christian (64-63) in overtime on Saturday. It is painful to go through that, especially coming off a three-game winning streak against those same teams.

Losing Bryce Reilly with a broken bone in his foot was just another blow to our team in the first game of the tournament. Seeing excruciating pain in a player's eyes is always hard to grasp as a coach.

With our strong regular-season record, we are ranked 9th in the State and can participate in the 2021 State Tournament. We have been seeded 9th and will travel to Brookwood in Thomasville this Wednesday. The game time is 6:00 p.m. Anytime you get another opportunity to play a game, especially in a state tournament, it's an honor; we will be ready to go.

We had some good play by a few of our players as Eli Fritchman averaged 16.5 points per game. Freshman, William Jobe, averaged 16 points per game and 6 blocked shots, and freshman, Jordan Triplett, who replaced Bryce, played well, scoring 18 points in the two contests and had great energy. Our defense and rebounding will have to get better in order to be competitive in the state tournament. We will play hard and see what happens.

Go Knights!
