It's amazing how time flies during a full athletic year. This week begins the end of FA athletic seasons for 2020-2021 with the finals of GISA Team Tennis and the GISA Final Four Soccer Tournaments. We are well represented in both. Our tennis teams will be at the John Drew Tennis Center in Macon on Thursday for the Elite Eight Team Tennis Tournaments and our soccer teams are headed to their respective Final Four Tournaments at Mercer University on Friday and, hopefully, Saturday. We are excited to have the opportunity to compete in these championship events.
It's been an interesting year to say the least in our athletic department. Around the world, people have had to deal with the pandemic, which at times has really brought many activities to a halt. We are so lucky at Frederica Academy that we were able to have our athletic seasons. Some did not. We may have been limited in spectators early for some games and matches; however, we competed and were able to finish our sporting event. For that, I am very thankful.
I was especially excited for our seniors who were able to complete a full season, and on top of that, our teams were very successful for everything they went through. I commend our coaches and our student-athletes for persevering during such a difficult and unusual time. Let's join together in cheering on our tennis and soccer teams this week. I look forward to watching them as they compete for state titles.
Go Knights!
