WSI, INTERGROUP & CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENTS

EAI's Service Support Weekend

Registration is open now through October 15, 2026 for the 2026 EAI-Sponsored Service Support Weekend to be held Nov 13-15, 2026. Click here for a detailed agenda, pricing, links to register, book your hotel and volunteer for service during the weekend.

How to Disable Zoom Transcripts for Your Videoconference Meetings

For the sake of anonymity, FA videoconference meetings should disable meeting transcripts. The tech contact for each meeting should log in to the meeting’s Zoom account and follow Zoom’s instructions here for disabling meeting transcripts.

WSI Board Spotlight

This month, meet the WSI Public Information (PI) Chair, Joanna A. (Maryland)

Fun Fact: When anyone, anywhere reaches out for help, I want the hand of FA always to be there. And for that: I am responsible.

Our committee wants to make FA a household name. One of our key projects is to make sure that when someone goes online seeking help, FA will be readily apparent.

How FA Members Can Be of Service: Come join our committee! Join a committee, or volunteer for one of our two open subcommittee chair positions – we need one to spearhead projects related to “information sessions” for the public and one to provide help and resources to PI representatives for local meetings.

Why This Service Matters to FA: PI work is critically important. Many people find FA online, through medical professionals, and through the community spreading the message of hope and recovery. PI works to continuously expand this outreach, in compliance with the 12 traditions.

Contact: Jaanna A., PI Chair, at pi@foodaddicts.org.

LIT WITH PURPOSE!

During the months of September, October, and November, we will feature “LIT WITH PURPOSE,” taking a closer look at the workings of the Literature Committee, including the Writing and Editing Subcommittee (WES).

The small but dedicated WES is tasked with creating and periodically updating FA literature, including all of FA’s pamphlets and the FA Book. We also periodically work with other subcommittees to edit various pieces of FA writing such as the blurbs for the FA podcast and some PI materials. But we don’t do it alone—when a new piece of literature is drafted, we send the draft to the entire fellowship for comment, either via email or through participation in virtual feedback sessions, which are listed in the FA Newsletter. Make sure to keep an eye out for the drafts of our latest projects and let us know what you think!
