This is the second edition of the bi-monthly FA Newsletter that will replace and streamline most of the general announcement emails that you have been receiving. Here you will find information on upcoming FA events, World Service Board, Intergroup and Chapter reports, and future FA events to be aware of.

Call for Service Opportunities

Looking for service? 

A new process has been created to enable FA members to volunteer for service where there are current needs! When there is help needed on World Service, Intergroup, or Chapter committees and activities, those service opportunities will be posted in a new portal where members can view details and learn how to volunteer. Look for the View Service Opportunities link on your FA Profile page to check out current needs!

Want to post a service opportunity? 

World Service Board, Intergroup and Chapter committee chairs are able to post service positions by going to your FA profile page and clicking on the link, Post a Service Position.

WSI Service Group Support Committee

The WSI Service Group Support Committee Global Virtual Meeting will not be held on November 20, 2022.

Instead, we encourage members to attend the EAI Service Support Weekend (SSW), November 12-13, 2022. See below for more info.

Service Positions and Meeting Effectiveness

Our November 6th MESA Resource Call will be the first in a series on FA service positions and their impact on meeting effectiveness. This time we will focus on Speaker Seekers—highlighted in Gratitude in Action, winter 2018—and World Service Conference Members—highlighted in Gratitude in Action, 4th edition, 2019. We encourage you to review these highlights by searching for “Gratitude in Action” on the FA website.

Bring your experience, suggestions, and questions regarding Speaker Seekers and World Service Conference Members. All FA members are welcome.

EAI Service Support Weekend:

Service in Many Forms

Service Support Weekend (SSW) is an EAI-sponsored two-day event that takes place every other year in November.

SSW offers an incredible opportunity for FA members from around the world to connect and share about service, gratitude and abstinence. SSW is a great place to be inspired and get ideas for ways your service group can continue to work together to raise awareness about FA recovery in your communities and the digital world.

The registration deadline is November 7.

Informal Fellowship Gathering 

As a way to offer support and provide another opportunity for service, the EAI 12th Step Committee will be hosting another informal fellowship gathering.

In these gatherings, one of our committee members will moderate to introduce a topic for discussion and then will introduce speakers who will each share their experience before opening it up to sharing from anyone who has 90 days of abstinence and who’s working with an FA sponsor. Each session will last one hour. 

These informal fellowship gatherings are open to all, so please join us!

Thank-a-Thons 2022

Thank-a-Thons consist of multiple one-hour meetings typically held back-to-back on the morning of Thanksgiving (in the US) or on another day of thankfulness. Most Thank-a-Thons happen between 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, but start times and duration can vary.

If your fellowship is planning to hold a Thank-a-Thon, please add it to the FA Thank-a-Thon calendar by clicking the orange button below.

The EAI 12th Step Committee would like to offer the slide deck options below as a resource that can be used in gatherings that local fellowships/groups are planning for Thanksgiving Day.

Courage to Change

The TOR eForum is an opportunity for all FA members who have felt unwelcome in this fellowship to share their painful experiences, their strength, and the hope of recovery that sustained them. These disclosures may reveal ways in which we can all become more welcoming. 

This eForum is offered in the spirit that we do not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. 

EAI PI Committee

Members of the EAI PI Committee will be available prior to the November EAI PI Committee Meeting to answer questions and provide guidance regarding your PI outreach efforts.
