Fathers, Faith & Frederica is a group that share the following three characteristics. We are:
- fathers of current or past Frederica students;
- men of faith; and
- men who have a deep attachment to Frederica Academy.
Last week we began a 9-week study on leadership.
Last week's topic -
Disruption, disturbance to the state quo.
This week's topic -
Language, the lexicon of effective leadership.
FF&F meets in the Athletic Center Conference Room opposite Hamilton Hall from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. (8:15 program start time) every Friday that the kids are in school. There is no need to rsvp, just drop in.

Middle School Spanish Mano Nerviosa Lesson |
In
Sra. Hill's Middle School Spanish classroom, Sixth and Seventh grade students played a fun and competitive number-counting game.
Mano Nerviosa was a hit, and it helped students practice their numbers and recognize numbers out of sequence.
|
Seventh Grade Life Science Class |
Coach Zimmermann's Seventh Grade Life Science class hit the ground running as soon as classes started this year. The class is currently focusing on the functions and differentiation of cells, in preparation for their studies of DNA, genetics, and heredity. In order to assess their understanding of a newly introduced concept, Coach Zimmermann's class has been working in small groups to create individualized concept maps over their new topic covering biological macro-molecules. This is a great opportunity for the students to collaborate with each other, implement prior knowledge and research, all while checking for understanding and having fun while learning with their peers.
|
Fourth Grade Outdoor Readers Theater |
Last week, Fourth Grade students took part in a Readers Theater as their Culminating Activity for
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Students took a scene from Chapter 22 in the book and acted out the scene. Some were narrators; some were characters, but everyone had fun! Fourth Grade will continue doing something interactive like this for every novel they read this year.
|
Fourth Grade Garden Journals |
On Thursday, Fourth Grade began its Garden Journals by drawing and measuring the garden. The students worked on measuring the length and width of the raised beds in feet and inches and determining the area and perimeter of the garden. The final measurement was of the giant sunflower - 9 feet!
|
Second Grade Enjoys Storyteller Time with Mrs. Larson |
Mrs. Albright's Second Grade students enjoyed their library time this week with Mrs. Larson. After listening to a story, they select a book to check out to read on their own.
|
Mrs. Lee Visits Lower School Classrooms |
Our Lower School Counselor,
Rachael Lee, spends time each week visiting Lower School classrooms. Last week, Second Grade students had a wonderful lesson as Mrs. Lee used creative props to describe her different counselor roles.
|
Kindergarten Fun Friday STEM Activity |
Kindergarten's Fun Friday included a spider STEM activity in which the children were given a basket, pipe cleaners, and straws. They were asked to work with their partner to create a web. The teachers were amazed at the communication that took place between the children as well as their ingenuity with their webs!
|
Pre-Kindergarten Mystery Reader |
This week's Pre-K Mystery Readers were
Will Dillon's grandparents,
Pat and Jim Elsener, who were visiting from Chicago. Will is the son of our Middle School Social Studies teacher,
Alyce Dillon, and her husband,
Michael Dillon. Mr. and Mrs. Elsener read and performed
The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog! by Mo Willems. It was very entertaining for the students and the teachers!
