Welcome Message
Dear FA Families,

It was wonderful to welcome back students for the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year last week. Our campus felt vibrant and full once again! In addition to our currently enrolled students, we welcomed nine new Knights to the FAmily for a total of 398 students! See their smiling faces below and be sure to welcome them and their families when you see them on campus and in our community.
January kicks off an exciting time in the Admission Office as we prepare for the upcoming admission season.

On January 23 we will host our fourth Hands on Frederica event. This is an opportunity for faculty, staff, trustees, students, parents, and other FA stakeholders to spruce up areas of the campus as we prepare to open our doors for guests during Open House week. It’s amazing how we can transform the campus in such a short amount of time. As they say, many hands make light work. So, we hope you might lend a hand! Please continue reading to learn more and sign up to volunteer at this enriching family friendly event.

Frederica Academy will open its doors February 1-5 to prospective families interested in learning about our Pre-Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade student-centered approach to integrated curriculum and experiential learning. We will spotlight a different division each day of Open House week with engaging classroom visits, interactive teacher introductions, campus tours, special events and more. I welcome you to share this invitation with friends and neighbors interested in learning more about Frederica Academy. There is no greater story than your FA story!

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school. You and your family are a blessing to Frederica Academy.

Fondly,

Admission Director
IslaMae, Class of 2029; Emmy, Class of 2022; OletaKate, Class of 2024; Astin,
Class of 2032; and Case, Class of 2027.

As lifelong Atlanta residents, we grew increasingly frustrated with the metropolitan area’s continuous growth and how it affected our family’s quality of life. We yearned for a slower pace that afforded us more time together. Our top priority when searching for a new home was finding a community that would offer a premier education as well as joyful and inspired childhoods for our children. We were pleasantly surprised to find a school that could serve all five of their academic strengths, interests, and learning profiles, a welcomed comfort as our children were enrolled in three different schools in Atlanta. From the moment we stepped foot on Frederica Academy’s beautiful campus and were instantly greeted so warmly, we knew this would be our forever home. We value the school’s appreciation for our family’s shared values while also recognizing each child’s individual needs and how he or she can best be served by the school’s mission to maximize his or her potential in mind, body, and spirit. We are so blessed to be members of the FAmily!

- JOY AND BRETT MITCHELL

Congratulations to Roy Boyd and Spencer Sullivan for being selected as this year's Rotary Speech Contest winners!

ACT Workshop
Last week, Frederica Academy conducted a four-day ACT prep course for juniors, which concluded on Saturday.

The ACT is a curriculum-based assessment which contains English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and optional Writing sections. Instructor Andrew Body met with the entire junior class during their scheduled English classes during the week and offered after-school and Saturday prep sessions for students. Students gained further awareness of their strengths and areas needing improvement, and they were given test-taking tips and strategies to prepare for the February ACT exam.

Mr. Body has scored in the 99th percentile on the ACT, SAT, PSAT, GMAT, and GRE. He has worked individually with several hundred students and in large (1,200+) and small classroom settings. He first began standardized testing when he took the ACT at the age of 10, and he began teaching at the age of 18 when asked by a respected educator to instruct an ACT course. Mr. Body began working exclusively in standardized testing and teaching at the age of 23 and has since rewritten Barron's book on the Miller Analogies Test, an exam administered to applicants seeking PhD's in education. Mr. Body also has heavily contributed to eight Barron's books on the ACT, SAT, and PSAT, four of which were best-sellers on Amazon.
