Dear FA Families,
I am not sure of the value of embarking on any new venture without unbridled optimism so I begin both this note and this upcoming year deeply believing in our collective ability and mindset to triumph over any hardships that find their way onto our island and into our lives and to work hard and celebrate all that is good within us and before us.
Hopefully, we all have much to be thankful for, even in the midst of unpleasant, inconvenient, and even potentially dangerous moments; and I very much look forward to watching and helping your children work and develop amidst an environment that respects and appreciates all that they are trying to do and trying to become. Working with children for a living certainly makes one more aware of the wonderful possibilities in the world and the abundance of opportunities in our lives.
Thank you to all in advance for searching for and discovering the optimal, respective roles that you can play in 2022 to help both your children and the school strengthen. As I have shared on numerous occasions over the years, there exists - not surprisingly - a hugely symbiotic relationship between your children and our school. When the school becomes stronger, so do the opportunities for your children to develop. When your children work to be their best selves, our school, as an institution and everyone affiliated with it, benefits as well.
It is incredibly important as we begin this new year together to remind each other of that from the outset. The world is not perfect, nor will it probably ever be; but being in the mix with incredibly dedicated and talented teachers; smart, devoted, and loyal parents; and hardworking, kind kids who want to be their best selves some day is an enviable position most would trade places for if given the opportunity.
I am hopeful that everyone enjoyed their time together these last weeks with family and friends and are eager now to reconnect with schoolmates and colleagues. We expect 2022 to be an outstanding year, largely because we will all do our parts to make it so. Welcome back to FA.
Respectfully,
Scott L. Hutchinson
