Head of School Message
“The best journey takes you home.”
Author Unknown
Dear FA Families,

Returning from an extended vacation where we have travelled a distance, my wife and I often reflect and discuss on the return trip... How does it feel to be coming home? If we are living in the right place at the right time in our lives, the answer is always that it feels exciting, comforting, and validating to return knowing that we can work to be our best selves in that environment.

I want FA students to have that exact same feeling about our campus and their experience on our campus after a vacation. I want their feeling about their school home to be one of unconditional support... a place where they feel accepted, understood, and appreciated for their unique selves. I also want them to believe that important work lies before them. All of these feelings and expectations should also be true for our employees.

Finishing up these last few weeks of the school year with one’s “A” game serves as both a means to an end and an end in itself. As an end, even with the disruptions of special events in the spring, that extended period of learning in April and May is critical to practicing and mastering concepts and ways of thinking. As a means to an end, firmly understanding an idea before summer break will make returning to that topic or a related one so much easier in August. Additionally, finishing with a best effort provides an enduring impression of a year’s worth of work and allows students to launch into their summer mode with the peace of mind that they have done their very best.

Welcome back to FA and to the satisfaction and joy of sharing a productive and enjoyable spring together.

Respectfully,

Scott L. Hutchinson

MS Musical Mentor Visit
On Monday, Christine Lamprea, cello soloist for the Coastal Symphony of Georgia, will present a workshop to Middle School students. Ms. Lamprea's visit is made possible by the Coastal Symphony of Georgia's 'Musical Mentors' program.

Ms. Lamprea is a dynamic young artist in classical voice and cello. She studied at Juilliard and at the New England Conservatory. She is an active recitalist and soloist. Ms. Lamprea has performed her own Colombian music for Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall, with the Detroit Symphony, the Houston Symphony, and the San Antonio Symphony. In 2018, she received the Sphinx Medal of Excellence for her contribution to the field as an artist of color.

Glynn County Relay for Life
FA Health and Wellness Club members are excited that our Relay for Life team has exceeded our goal! We want to thank everyone who has donated and helped with our fundraisers! We are currently in second place out of all of the teams participating in this year's Glynn County Relay for Life!

The final Relay for Life event for all of the relay teams will take place on Friday, April 22nd, from 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. at the Golden Isles Church of God. Please come out and visit our tent!

We are continuing to collect canned goods to weigh the luminaries down, which will be on display at the event in remembrance of cancer victims or in celebration of cancer survivors. Collection boxes are available by the school clinic, the front office, and the Upper School reception area!

Please visit our Relay for Life webpage for more information.

Thanks!
