Ohio State Students win Gold Medal at 2021 iGem Competition
Upcoming Events
iGem Recruitment Meeting
Tuesday, January 18, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., 219 Ag Engineering
The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) team at Ohio State is recruiting for 2022! Come join us in room 2019 at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, January 18th, to view the accomplishments of the 2021 team and learn more about iGEM. For the 2021 competition, Team OhioState chose to engineer a phage therapy to combat sepsis. Sepsis is a global issue due to the overreaction to an infection. The project focused on cleaning up the endotoxins left behind from a bacterial infection that often goes untreated. The phage would carry the needed genetic code that would output endotoxin neutralizing proteins so the immune system can no longer detect and overreact to them. Opportunities
Purdue University Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship
Application Due February 15
The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program provides an action-oriented research experience for undergraduate students to stimulate their interest in advanced education and research careers. Selected students engage in research this summer on Purdue's West Lafayette, Indiana campus! SURF matches undergraduates with a faculty member and graduate student mentor who introduce them to the research tools used on the cutting edges of science, engineering, and technology.
2022 Great Lakes Summer Fellows Program
Application Due February 18
The Cooperative Institute for Great Lakes Research (CIGLR) announces the 2022 Great Lakes Summer Fellows Program, in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab (GLERL). The Great Lakes Summer Fellows Program exposes students to a broad range of disciplines and provides an exciting opportunity for students to conduct research in the Great Lakes region under the mentorship of a CIGLR or GLERL scientist. We seek to use these fellowships to increase diversity in STEM disciplines and strongly encourage applications from students who identify with groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in government and academic workforces.
2022 Research Experience for Undergraduates Fellowship Program
