Undergraduate Research Assistant
We are looking for one undergraduate student to develop some educational materials in the green home area, update a website, and develop some virtual tours. The basic qualifications are listed below:
- Good communication skills (both oral and written skills)
- Website development skills
- Videotaping and editing skills
- Can work up to 20 hours per week ($11/hour)

Course Announcements:
- CSM 5680 – Construction Renovation and Demolition class times have been changed to Tuesday and Thursday from 12:45 to 2:05.
- CSM 5670 – Green Building and Sustainable Construction will not be offered during Sp19 semester.
- FABENG 5540 – Biomass Conversion to Bioenergy will be offered as a combined undergraduate/graduate session in Sp19. The course will include topics in bioeneconomy status and prospects, biomass preprocessing and pretreatment, biological and thermochemical conversion of biomass to biofuels and bioproducts, and biosystems analysis. This class will meet Tue, Wed, Thu, 8:00 - 8:55 am. Class evaluation include homework assignments, a term paper and presentation, and a final take-home exam.
- FABENG 5620 – Fluid Power Systems will be offered as a combined undergraduate/graduate session in Sp19. Course topics include analysis and design of fluid power systems used in mobile (off-road) agricultural, maintenance and earth moving equipment. This class will meet Mon/Wed 4:10 - 5:05 pm and Fri 8:00 - 9:50 am.
- FABENG 5200 – Appropriate Technology for Developing Countries will be offered as a combined undergraduate/graduate session in SP19. The course is designed to provide applied knowledge of appropriate technology product development for people in developing countries. This class will meet Mon/Wed 8:00 - 9:20 a.m.
- CSE 1112 – Introduction to Computer-Assisted Problem Solving will not be offered during SP19 semester. CSM students looking to complete this requirement in the spring semester should instead take CSE 1111.

Apply for CFAES and FABE Scholarships
|
Each year, all students enrolled in the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering are invited to submit an application for college level (CFAES) and department level (FABE) scholarships through the
CFAES Scholarship Form.
Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic merit, financial need, extra-curricular involvement, and more! FABE scholarships include opportunities specific to students majors in ASM, CSM, FABE.

Sesquicentennial Student Scholar Leadership Program
|
The Ohio State University is pleased to offer an opportunity in academic year 2019-20, for 150 students to participate in the Sesquicentennial Student Scholar Leadership Program.
These sesquicentennial scholars will:
- Receive a $2,500 scholarship.
- Participate in tailored leadership development training led by university faculty and staff (6-8 hours of leadership seminar sessions throughout the academic year).
- Serve as ambassadors for the sesquicentennial celebration and as representatives of the university, colleges and campuses. Involvement may include being a spokesperson, representative, or volunteer at events, an advocate through social media or other opportunities (an estimated commitment of 18-20 hours for undergraduate students and 14-16 hours for graduate/professional students throughout the academic year).

2019 U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Scholars Program
|
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Scholars Program is now accepting applications for 2019. The DOE Scholars Program is open to undergraduate and graduate students, and recent graduates pursuing a degree or who have a degree in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline, or have demonstrated interest or experience in a STEM field that supports the DOE mission.
Veterans are encouraged to apply.
DOE Scholars selected by the
Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP)
are given a Veteran's Preference. Selected veterans will be placed at various federal agencies in Washington, D.C.
Participant Support:
- Undergraduate student stipend – minimum of $600 per week
- Graduate student and post-graduate stipend – minimum of $650 per week
- Travel reimbursement of inbound and outbound costs up to $1,000 for participants who live more than fifty miles, one-way, from the assigned hosting site

Ohio Contractors Association Chapter Scholarship Application
|
|
The Ohio Contractors Association is “the voice” of the heavy and highway industry in Ohio. Itsmembers profit from such benefits as political representation, safety programs, contract interpretation, and education/training programs. The Ohio Contractors Association Columbus Chapter Scholarship is a one-year scholarship awarded annually to a student who has demonstrated an interest in the heavy and highway construction industry and has an interest in staying in central Ohio upon graduation.
The award will be based on the applicant’s merit potential and demonstrated interest in the construction industry and is typically $1500.00 for the 4-year applicant chosen based upon the application. The student must be a citizen of the United States and be at least a second year student in a Bachelor of Science program in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, Construction Management or a related area at the time of submitting this scholarship application and receiving the award.

Apply for New Faces of ASABE
|
Nominations are open for New Faces of ASABE, the program that recognizes the outstanding talents and passions of the rising generation of ASABE members, whose impactful work around the globe helps tell the story of the profession.
The 2019 class of New Faces will be recognized, and the winner announced, at ASABE’s Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference, February 11-13, 2019. Two categories are available:
The
Professionals
category is open to ASABE members 35 years of age and younger. The top nominee wins a trip to Washington, DC, during Engineers Week 2019.
The
College Edition
is open to all third-, fourth-, and fifth-year undergraduate members enrolled in an accredited engineering program. The winner receives a $1000 scholarship from ASABE.

The 2019 Denman Research Forum submission window is
November 1 until 5:00pm on December 5
The application process consists of:
- Presenter and Research Advisor Demographic Information
- Research/creative project title and 300 word abstract (with stated results)
- 2-minute video submitted via YouTube link
- Advising report
Two Minute videos need to cover:
- Introduction of researcher
- Description of his/her research including results found
- Description of why he/she would like to participate in the Denman Forum
The event will be held February 20, 2019 at the Biomedical Research Tower.
