April 23, 2025

Dear Father Allouez Catholic School Families,

He is risen! The Lord has triumphed over death and the promise of eternal life has been fulfilled giving us all a hope of one day being with him in paradise. I hope that all of you were able to spend some time together with family and friends this past weekend celebrating the glory of the Resurrection.

On Monday, Pope Francis passed away. As we await the announcement of the next Pope, Father Allouez Catholic School joins with the entirety of the Catholic community in this time of mourning. Eternal rest grant unto your servant, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.

Lastly, we open up our Spring window for STAR testing next week Monday. This is a very important point of data for us to see the overall growth of students from this school year. It is important that students are well rested and have a good breakfast to make sure they are given the best possible chance at demonstrating all of the knowledge and skills they have learned over the course of the year.

NFL Draft Safety Plan

As mentioned last week, the NFL Draft is taking place this week. In order to ensure that a safe environment is in place at both campuses, there are going to be some modifications to drop-off/pick-up, recess coverage, and mass. If you are free to help with recess coverage on Thursday or Friday please let the office know.

Please note that all after school activities, including after care at the SMS campus, will not happen 4/23/25-4/25/25.

Upcoming Important Dates

4/23/25-4/25/25 – NFL Draft (School is in session!)

4/28/25 – Spring STAR window opens

Peace,

Mr. Francis Dempsey

Principal

St Matt's Campus

AM ARRIVAL

Car Drop-off: Both the school and church parking lot have access to parents only

for drop-off from 7:30AM-8:10AM. Staff will be visible outside to ensure that students are dropped off safely and escorted into the building.

Students will remain inside the atrium until being dismissed to their classrooms.

Bus Drop-off: Admin Assistant Mary/Jane will assist staff members working door duty and to help direct students inside.

PM DISMISSAL

All Teachers will be present outside for pick-up at the end of the day in order to ensure that students are going home with the appropriate adult.

● Please note: After Care services will NOT be offered on Wednesday,

Thursday, or Friday of the NFL Draft.

Dismissal for Bussers: Students will be escorted directly to the bus by two teachers. The bus will continue to run over to RES during the Draft week.

Dismissal for Car Riders: The parking lot will open from 2:55-3:15 for cars to enter.

Mass will be held on Thursday.

Parents will still be allowed to come to the mass as we do not believe in denying access to the Eucharist. A special slip will be sent home to families prior to mass indicating whether or not they will be in attendance.

● This slip, with the names of the people attending, will be turned in early

and also a copy returned to the family to be presented to staff on the day of mass for confirmation of visitors.

The playground area will be limited, and extra supervision will be present. Larger

vehicles may be parked behind the parish center.

Parking Lot: For safety reasons, we would like to block the entrance and exit of parking lots on or around the school grounds from 8:00 to 2:55 pm from local

traffic. The reason for this effort is to avoid a park-and-ride scenario and enhance our sense of security/safety during these three days.

RECESS:

More recess supervisors will be assigned based on attendance. We may consider moving the recess area off the blacktop. (May consider indoor recess pending how events go on Monday/Tuesday).

St. Matt's Running Club

The St. Matt's Kids Running program will be starting on Thursday, May 1st! This program emphasises fun and fitness and prepares students to run the Bellin 5K Race which will be held on Saturday June 14th.

This is a free program and all St. Matt's students K-4 are welcome, but students younger than 2nd grade need a parent/adult volunteer to run with them for safety purposes. We will be practicing twice a week after school at St. Matt's (we will run outside) starting on Thursday, May 1st. Practice dates are as follows: May 1, 7, 8, 12, 14, 19, 22, 28 and 29 and June 2 and 4. These practices will take 30-60 minutes depending on the length of the run. Pickup times will be noted on the practice schedule that will be given out to those who sign up.  We are greatly in need of adult helpers! You don't need to run to help!  Help needed includes directing/cheering on students on the route and making sure they are safe, handing out water, and helping with snacks.  To sign your child up or if you have questions, please contact Carrie Miller at 920-309-2444 or carrielmiller99@gmail.com.

Academic Calendar 2025-26

We are pleased to share the Board-approved GRACE academic calendar for the 2025-26 school year which is available at gracesystem.org | About GRACE | Calendar (direct link to the one-page summary).

Please note that Christmas break will be extended to two full weeks due to the timing of Christmas and New Year’s Day. To ensure the school year does not extend further, schools are open and classes will be held on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and on Easter Monday.

Looking ahead, we anticipate returning to our traditional schedule with these days off in the following school year, along with a shorter Christmas break.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we adjust to this unique calendar.
