Welcome back to all of you! The hallways at both St. Matthew and Resurrection campuses are abuzz with the sound of so many students who are quickly catching up with one another from the summer, getting (re)acclimated to the school, and even some lessons being taught – I was fortunate enough to stop in during a music class where our new Music Teacher, Mr. Patrick Mallory, was doing with the students on rhythm! Already it is shaping up to be the start of a great year!
One of the best highlights of the week has to have been the Blessing of the Backpacks in which Father Bob gave a blessing over the students before sprinkling them holy water as they begin to make their way into the building. Meanwhile, the middle school students brought back the church choir (under the direction of Mrs. Melchert and Mrs. Becker). During one of the songs, Mrs. Becker stopped playing her piano and the students absolutely nailed their parts – I even had chills from good they are sounding already! Needless to say, the Holy Spirit is alive and vibrantly on display at our campuses.
For those of you who are new to us this year at Father Allouez, please be sure to review all of the information here in our weekly newsletter as there will be all sorts of important news and updates, including dates of events. If there is ever something in the newsletter that you have questions about, please contact the main office at either campus and we will get your questions answered. Let’s make it a great year as we journey to Jesus, through Mary!
Staffing Update
I am beyond thrilled to announce to all of you the hiring of Ms. Grace Slippy to our faculty! Ms. Slippy brings to our community an excitement to teach young minds and to work collaboratively with families in this process. Ms. Slippy holds a Bachelor of Science in Education. She has experience in the classroom and also has worked at Heritage Hill as a docent helping to educate visitors! Ms. Slippy has a deep passion for weaving and is an active member of the Wisconsin Handweaver’s Guild. I am sure that the students will enjoy getting to know her even more as the year goes on and will receive a vibrant, quality, Catholic education from her as well.
As we begin the transition for Ms. Slippy, I would be remiss if I did not thank Mrs. Lisa Patz for stepping in during these first few days of school and providing a wonderful experience for the students. Mrs. Patz will be with our students today, and then Ms. Slippy will be in the classroom starting on Thursday. Welcome to Ms. Slippy!

Dress Code Reminder
With school underway, I ask that parents take a moment to review the school dress code at all grade levels. Even though we have only been at school for a few days, the faculty and staff have brought a few items to my attention. These include:
- The length of shorts for the boys and the length of skirts on the girls
- Proper shoes being worn to school
- Piercings
In order to ensure a continued smooth start, please refer to the school website for more information about the dress code/uniform.
