In today’s Gospel, we hear the story of Jesus healing ten lepers as He travels toward Jerusalem. These men, separated from their families and communities because of their illness, cry out from a distance, “Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!” Moved by compassion, Jesus tells them to go show themselves to the priests—and as they go, they are healed. It’s a moment of mercy and restoration, showing the power of faith and obedience. Yet only one of the ten, a Samaritan, returns to thank Jesus.
This moment of gratitude stands out powerfully. All ten received healing, but only one received something even greater: a personal encounter with Christ. When the Samaritan falls at Jesus’ feet in thanksgiving, Jesus tells him, “Your faith has saved you.” Gratitude not only recognizes the gifts we receive but also opens our hearts to deeper relationship with God. It transforms healing into holiness, and blessings into opportunities for faith.
As parents and families, this Gospel invites us to model gratitude in our homes. It’s easy to focus on what we need or what we lack, but when we pause to give thanks—to God and to one another—we begin to see how generously we are loved. Teaching our children to say “thank you” is more than good manners; it’s a spiritual practice that draws us closer to Jesus, the source of every good gift.
May we, like the grateful Samaritan, take time each day to return to the Lord in thanksgiving. In recognizing His blessings—big and small—we not only express gratitude but also allow our faith to grow stronger. “Your faith has saved you” reminds us that gratitude is more than a response; it is a pathway to grace.
Brims and Bowties!
At Father Allouez Catholic School, we strive to live out that legacy each day — growing in faith, supporting one another, and forming the next generation of saints. One beautiful expression of that community spirit is our upcoming Brims & Bowties Fundraiser on November 15th.
This evening is more than an event — it’s a chance to gather, to celebrate God’s goodness in our school, and to strengthen the bonds that make FACS a family. Whether this is your first year or your tenth, we promise you will leave feeling welcomed, connected, and part of something truly special.
We warmly invite you to join us — come build community, support our students, and be part of the living communion that makes our school shine. Tickets can be purchased at FACSDerby.GiveSmart.com
