September 3, 2025

Dear Father Allouez Catholic School Families,

I hope that everyone had a relaxing and refreshing Labor Day weekend and that the students have come back even more energized than the first week. Having spent a considerable amount of time in each of the classrooms over these first few weeks of school, I can safely reiterate that the students are happy to be back with their friends and teachers and that there is a lot of good learning already taking place across all the grades and content areas.

With the third week of school on the horizon, I want to let all families know that we will also be kicking off STAR testing on Monday, September 8th. The STAR assessment is a standardized test that provides crucial information and data for our teachers about their students in content areas such as math and reading. The test is given to students in grades K-8 and is computer based. In order to give the students the best possible outcome for success, please ensure that your child(ren) is getting enough rest at night and eats a good breakfast before coming to school on the days that they have STAR – this will be told to them by their teacher. If there are any questions about the STAR test, please reach out to the main office.

Staffing Update – Middle School Science

Right before we went on break, I was able to secure a Science teacher for our middle school students! The best part of the signing is that the person is known to our FACS community and has subbed for us in the past: Mrs. Lisa Patz. Mrs. Patz comes to us with dual degrees in both environmental science and biology. She is a deeply faith-filled individual who will provide our students with rigor and challenge in the classroom. Please see her attached bio to learn even more about her. Mrs. Patz has officially begun as our science teacher as of Tuesday, September 2nd, and we look forward to her working with us all going forward.

Upcoming Dates

Safety Reminder

With the tragedy that occurred in Minneapolis last week, we here at FACS have made some adjustments to our masses. Effective as of last week, the doors to the church at both SMS and RES will be locked a few minutes after mass has started. If you arrive late, please proceed to the main office to be let into the mass. Also, a dedicated staff member will be present throughout the mass in the back of the church to provide further assistance and help. I appreciate all of the prayers and communication about this and further appreciate everyone’s cooperation with the changes.

Dress Code Reminder (From last week)

With school underway, I ask that parents take a moment to review the school dress code at all grade levels. Even though we have only been at school for a few days, the faculty and staff have brought a few items to my attention. These include:

-          The length of shorts for the boys and the length of skirts on the girls

-          Proper shoes being worn to school

-          Piercings

In order to ensure a continued smooth start, please refer to the school website for more information about the dress code/uniform.

Peace,

Mr. Francis Dempsey

Principal
